Chapter Two: Lucas Salinger... What does she see in him?!
You know that deja vu feeling you get sometimes? That's exactly how Lucas felt at this very moment. He had already seen Ria get drunk once about a year ago. But then it was at Theo's party. She stayed there until the end, but they had to carry her three blocks on foot. A similar situation occurred today, but this time they'd rather take her to Theo's because it's much closer... Theo's journey home was incredibly awkwardly quiet. They were both in their own world. In a sequence of never-ending thoughts. Lucas thought about what Theo had told him last year. He wasn't sure if the words "She means my life to me" were just Theo's drunken statement or reality. "Theo do you remember that one day when we were playing badminton and you drunkenly confided in me that you really like Ria?" Lucas asked.
"I think I've said something like that, but I'm not sure... Why are you asking me anyway?"
"Well... It's kind of hard to talk about, but I think I like your best friend..."
"What?!" cried Theo (Jamie as his friends call him) horrified.
"I hope you don't mind if I ask her out again."
"No," he lied and trailed off for a moment, "just don't take her anywhere where she'll find alcohol. It's hard to keep up with her after that..."
"Great, but are you sure she's not listening to our conversation right now?"
"I am one hundred percent sure. She will be glad tomorrow if she at least remembers where she was."
And with that, this endless and cursed day finally came to an end. It didn't take long to get to Theo's house. They put Ria in his bed and Theo went to sleep on the couch in the living room. Lucas went home thinking about life. Theo couldn't sleep during the night and that's why he was on Instagram all night. Around three in the morning, he got nervous. He punched the wall. The idea of Ria dating Lucas Salinger crept into his head. That idea will haunt him in his dreams and mind for the rest of his life. "Why can't I get her out of my head? Why the hell her???" The last two words came out of his mouth louder as if he expected. He didn't understand what was going on in his mind. The worst part was that Ria is his best friend and the only person he talks to about everything. Except for this, because it's news, that is, a secret that she will never know about... (That's what dear Theo only thought...)
