“So how long has it been going on?” the therapist asked. “About five years…” El said.

"That's a very long time for you not to tell anyone about it.  But I'm glad you contacted me because anorexia is a very treacherous thing. I admire you for being able to live with it for so long without anyone but your friend noticing.  My now deceased daughter only told me about it when it was too late... But now to the more important part.  We're going to have to call your parents in here for a very serious consultation. Are you aware of that?"

"Yes." In fact, the idea of escaping her life bubble terrified her. She couldn't imagine starting to eat like a normal person. Not even to stop the ridiculous diets and constant release in the form of vomiting. On the other hand, she wanted to be normal.
