My Prowler Gone Wrong

He aimed ready to fire as I was in a ball in the corner hugging my knees to my chest.
"Freeze mister!!!!!!" I heard the voice of Pete Malloy and then Jim Reed. I ran to Jim sobbing crying.
I sobbed into his work jacket as he ran his hand softly across my back letting me cry.
"She hurt?" Pete asked his partner Jim.
"I don't know." Jim answered, "But I'll check. Melanie I gotta take a look at you ok?"
"O-Ok." I said when he looked at me and saw my hand and the bruise across my cheek, "Is Max and Jimmy going to be ok?"
"They're going to be fine." Jim reassured me, "The vets already here to fix them up."
I nodded cowering back into him as Pete got the Prowler.
"Got him Partner." Pete said smiling.
"I see." Jim said pointing at me.
I was still crying my hair wet and I was trembling. I had never been this frightened by anything in my life before!
The paramedics wrapped my hand and bandaged the gash above my eyebrow, applied a cold bandage to my bruise on my cheek. I had pulled my hair back out of my face.
"Don't leave me, he could come back....." I say when Jim looked at me then Pete.
"I'll take him to the station you stay with her. I'll bring you some clothes by." Pete said turning to catch Jim's keys.
