I looked at Jim and Pete then Mac then my father extremely furious with Charlie.
"This jerry rigging has gone on long enough." I say with the boys in uniform still.
"I'm sorry Mel." My father says, when I realized something red flags going up, "We can't accuse him based off what you said he did, we all have to see it."
I clenched my jaw.
"Everyone saw what he did to that witness. He even testified that Charlie coerced him!!Isn't that enough Daddy?!" I said as Mac and the others noticed red flags going up.
"Sometimes doin the right thing ain't doin the right thing." My dad said.
"What the hells that supposed to mean Captain?" MacDonald asked shocked at my father. I started to remember all those oddball calls from Charlie to my father and those weird meetings late at night. I slapped my father upset with him.
"I'm ashamed to be your daughter!!!" I hissed looking him dead in the eyes tears burning as they fell.
"But sweetheart..."
"Stop it now, I said stop it right now!" I exclaimed, "I'm not your sweetheart and I'm not your little girl anymore daddy. I don't ever want to see you again!!"
I ran hiding in the locker room since everyone but my two boys had left. Jim came in after me.
"Melanie?" He said softly, "Melanie? Mel?"
I sniffled burying my face in my knees sitting inbetween two lockers in a corner.
"Melanie?" He said but couldn't find me. After he left I got up going outside when I bumped into someone.
"Oh my gosh!" I say red in the face, "I'm so sorry Mister..Mister??"
"Barry Baricza. I'm here to get something I left do you know where the briefing room is?" Baricza asked.
"Yeah go two more ways down hanga left." I say losing my train of thought.
"Wanna come with?" He asked.
"Uhhh...Sure." I say.
