"Be careful." I say in front of the men's lockerroom door kissing his cheek, "Don't get into any trouble you hear?"
"I'll try not too." Jim teased when he turned leaving as I did too. Usually on my off days I worked suicide hotline when I wasn't in the ER. I tapped my shoe against the floor while I sat at a desk sorting files while I waited to get a call. I got up placing the sorted folder into the filing cabinet and got another folder starting to fix it when the phone rang.
"Hello?" I say quickly.
"Hi," said a female voice, "don't try anything cute missus. I just need somebody to talk too ok?"
"Alright. I'm Melanie Moore." I say looking at our clerk
"Call the Sergeant, tell him get me One-Adam-12." I whispered covering the phone.
"Hello? Hello?" I say when I heard her.
"I'm still here Melanie." She said, "Are you married Melanie?"
"No, but I will be soon." I say holding my breath.
"My husband left me a few days ago." She whined.
"Did you have any kids?" I asked her.
"Yeah. Two, beautiful girls but he took them from me." She answered as i heard quick feet in the hallway.
"I'm sorry. What's your name?" I asked her.
"Julieanna Grant." She told me when I smiled writing it on a sticky note for the boys in blue.
"Ok Julieanna. When's your birthday?" I wondered.
"Why?!" She hissed I could tell she had been dropping pills.
"So I can give you some flowers when it's your birthday. So when is it?" I lied.
"July 10th next week. What's it to you?" She asked me again.
"I have to do something real quick. I'll be right back ok Jewels." I say when I heard the click of her phone and I paused, "Hello? Hello? Julieanna?Hello?!?"
I put down the phone and when I ran out I bumped into Jim turning red in the face.
"Here. I wrote this down. Mac is already going through the records to find her." I say his brown eyes a comfort to me when he smirked looking at the sticky note.
"Thanks Mel." Jim said and I smiled making a face when Pete wasn't looking.
