𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 so magical about a teenage crush. Almost like the planets aligned to act as a force to bring two people together. Almost like Venus—goddess of love—was in the midst of matchmaking lonely hearts. As such, the auburn-haired first-year's wandering eyes never left their target as she sipped her cold drink through a straw, occasionally encountering the usual black tapioca ball and chewing on it mercilessly.

The beautiful nineteen-year-old standing behind the counter and serving the upcoming customers was blissfully unaware of all the attention that she was receiving. It was business as usual for the young woman—working minimum wage six days a week, usually eight hours per day to get a head start on paying off her student loans which were piling up. Even so, working at a boba shop didn't seem to put a dent in her mood.

She was a ball of positivity and enthusiasm—the exact opposite of her little brother. Nobara truly admired the older girl's dedication and sunshiny personality. Hence why Nobara had been unapologetically ogling at [Y/N] for the past ten minutes as Megumi and Yuji were engaging in a mind-numbing debate about...well, whatever stupid things teenage boys were interested in.

The moment Kugisaki and her two friends stepped into the store after a long, exhausting day of school and were greeted by [Y/N], it was invigorating. Like a glass of ice-cold water being thrown in Nobara's face. It was pathetic, she was well aware. But the interaction itself had stubbornly compartmentalized itself in the first year's head and was being replayed over and over:

"Welcome to Lucky Star Boba! Let me know when you're ready to order—Eek! Gumi-chan! What are you doing here!? I thought you said you were too embarrassed to visit me at work."

[Y/N] squealed in disbelief all while a wide smile took hold of her lips upon seeing her half-brother and his two friends approaching the counter. The occupants of nearby tables turned their heads to see what caused the commotion all the while Megumi wanted to die when [Y/N] ran out from behind her workstation and pulled him into a bone-crushing hug.

Moments like these made the raven-haired young man wonder if [Y/N] was actually related to him. She was much too...excitable and strangely naïve. In reality, [Y/N]'s happy-go-lucky attitude was the outcome of being raised by a self-centered alcoholic mother and an absentee father who claimed to care about her. It was all a façade—a beautiful coping mechanism. Happiness seemed to dissipate the pain.

"And I meant that, but these idiots begged me to come here. I also told you to not call me that. It makes me sound like your best friend...and a girl."

Megumi grumbled under his breath, cheeks flushing a pale pink shade when the eyes of multiple customers landed directly on him. He did love his sister, but the sorcerer preferred to save the sibling-like affection when they were in private. More than anything, Megumi loathed the way Itadori and Kugisaki stood a few steps behind him, almost choking on their laughter as they held it back.
