I saw this video where instead of Kira dying Jotaro just knocks him unconscious and takes him to Rohan, he uses Heavens Door to erase his memory of his stand and also makes him not a psychopath.
Let's say thats an initial premise.
When Gigiorno was fighting a stand user (after the initial events of Golden Wind) the user (whos ability was to disable another stands power) went overdrive and free'd "Diavalo"
Thats quoted as he doesn't exactly remember his name, for us it was 3 months but for him it was 200+ years of constant death loop, before a car hits him he seems ghostly chains undone, and the car actually slowed enough to just hurt him and not kill.
He was diagnosed with dimentia but still left and after hours of walking found Kira.
Let's say thats where the story begins, these 2 who don't know their immense power and memory loss go on a missions to remember themselves, to which after they'd find themselves on a redemption arc.
