the planning process

i wanted to share with you all the planning process of this fic! i always like to plan my stories from the start, before i start writing, and then change things as i go. SOOO, warning: many things in the final draft are not included in this planning process! so i hope you do not get confused on what actually happened and the original plan

things i want to include:

something big and sad that makes newt not want to trust thomas? or just like brings the development of their relationship down

gally and newt backstory:

- when newt first came to glade, he was placed in a dorm with gally and they were kinda friends- not super duper friendly, but like, good enough, yknow? they talked.

- newt didnt really have any other friends. he sort of clung onto gally, and obviously, that made him not really want to hang out with newt anymore. it was weird. so, slowly, they just drifted apart. oops!!

when will i have newt explain this? well, he could either do it when he tells thomas everything, or have him get in like an argument with gally and like it kinda touches on the subject and explains everything. but how will this argument come to be? maybe gally can be acting like a dick or something to thomas, and then newt can like stand up to him and then they get in an argument? idfk.

the project:

- mrs. ellenis assigns a PARTNER project and obv teresa and thomas partner up, but then thomas sees newt without a partner and then he sees like newt getting up to fucking LEAVE and is like "no no no my tutee cannot stop showing up to class again 💅" so then the duo becomes a TRIOO (trios dont work out.)

- the project is about love. we're gonna pull a fucking "the dinner party" chapter from my miraculous fanfic (go fucking read it rn!!) basicallyyy they're gonna have to come up with any love story in history- a fictional one, of course. some kids are doing katniss and peeta, jude and cardan, anne and gilbert - GUESS WHO THE TRIO IS DOING. FUCKING JACK DAWKINS AND LADY BELLE FOX. go watch the artful dodger rn. MY DODGERFOX HEART OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

- ORR they could just do the project on the maze runner but change the names - make it so it's stephen and sam, yk? thennn there could be a line where newt is like, "i believe in the romances that aren't meant to be" or something like that cause OMG

- sooo they do it, yk??? they have to analyze the relationship and it's faults, why things happened and then write a ff- IM KIDDING. along with the analyzing, they have to write an ending for the story and then PRESENT IT TO THE CLASS. this is where the dinner party comes in yall im telling you thomas is about to fucking pour his heart out for his love for newt and teresa is gonna be flabbergasted (dont blame her at all girl i would be fucking pissed if i was her)

newt backstory:

- soo he's the eldest child in the household, and he never really received attention. not like most kids do, though, like SEVERELY. newt wasnt really paid any attention to. he still loved lizzy and didnt blame her, but like- wouldnt you want to get out too?

- so, he saved money. or got a scholarship, i dont fucking know. he knew that he should think of england, and his house as a home, but it didnt feel like home. he had to get out, he wanted to get out, and he did feel suicidal at times, but since his sister was always there, he never committed. no limp, yay!!

- umm but so yeah he went to glade :) cool? yay!
