(Sophie's POV)

After finally settling back in my bed (after lots of struggling) I was able to get sleepy. But mostly, my brain was racing. What would Keefe say? What if he got even angrier at me?

Suddenly, my mental spiral trailed off, because there was a knock on my window. I sighed, wondering who could be knocking on my window at 3:00 am. Then my eyes widened as I saw familiar ice blue eyes gleaming in the light of the moon.

"Keefe?!" Sophie whisper-shouted. Keefe's smile looked tired but loving as he picked the lock to her window and climbed into her room.

"That lock is really easy to pick..." Keefe mumbled. Sophie rolled her eyes, and Keefe finally strode over and hugged her tightly. Then he helped her sit up. He sat on the edge of the bed, facing her and gently taking both of her hands. Sophie was speechless.

"I'm sorry I got so upset, Foster, and..." He swallowed hard. "I know I still don't deserve you." When Sophie's smile became a frown, he added, "But I love you anyway." Sophie's face softened into something unrecognizable.

"I love you, too, Keefe. You already know that. But... I thought you didn't want to be with me because you felt like you weren't worthy of me." Sophie explained. Keefe laughed, a soft husky sound that made Sophie want to hug him tightly. Keefe tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, his eyes holding the unspoken words, even as he said them:

"I'm not worthy of you. But the fact that you would love me, even after all of this, isn't something that should be wasted." He grinned. "And, you know, the Keefester shouldn't be wasted, either. So it's a win-win." Keefe whispered, making Sophie laugh.

"You really had to do this at 3:00 am?" Sophie teased. Keefe smirked.

"It couldn't wait. But if you don't wanna be with me, I'll wait." Keefe mumbled. Sophie grinned.

"Of course I wanna be with you, Keefe. Maybe I didn't know that a week ago, but I know it now. And also, you're the one who decided to kiss me and then reject me, and then take me back again. So technically, we both had to wait for each other." Sophie corrected. Keefe laughed.

"You're so cute when you're being smart." He teased. Sophie blushed.

"You should probably go before Grady barges in and finds you trespassing." Sophie countered. Keefe smirked.

"I'm not trespassing. I come here all the time." Keefe argued.

"Maybe. But that doesn't mean I can't kick you out." Sophie said smugly. Keefe grinned.

"You won't. You love me too much." Keefe replied. Sophie rolled her eyes.

"Sometimes."

"Nope. All the time."

Sophie sighed.

"It's pointless to argue with you, isn't it?"

"Definitely." He grinned. "Are you coming to my basketball game tomorrow?"

"Sure, if you get out of my house." Sophie snapped. But Keefe just laughed and messed up her hair even more.

"Fine. See you tomorrow, Foster." He kissed the top of her head before leaping out the window.

"Why can't he just use the door?!" Sophie muttered to herself as she blushed.

(Keefe's POV)

I was definitely hyped up for my basketball game this time. We had some pretty talented dudes, and Foster was on the bleachers. Obviously, I had to impress her as much as possible.

Also, her parents were there. But Edaline was wearing a foam finger with the colors of my team: Blue and purple. That kinda made me feel better. Even Grady was bringing them soft pretzels to munch on while I practically slammed the competition. Just saying. ;)

We were going up against the tigers. They're not that bad, but I'm trying not to think about that. This is the playoffs. I needed to get my head in the game.

Right before the game, Grady steered Foster's wheelchair down the side ramp to come see me. He glared at me as Foster hugged me tightly. I saw a couple of dudes staring at Foster and drooling, and I glared at them as hard as Grady glared at me.

Huh. Now I kinda get why he acts like he hates me.

I'm the second tallest on the team, but I'm still super fast. So they made me the point guard for the game. Usually, I assist the point guard, but I've been training for this my whole life. Foster also used to play with me. She's pretty good, but I always beat her. So I was pretty prepared.

"Go, Keefe!" Foster shouted from the bleachers right before the whistle blew. I fling the ball towards my teammates, and #4 catches it. I sprint as fast as I can down the court, and #4 throws it far so I can catch it and make a lay-up. Easy peasy.

I can hear Foster cheering loudly, and I wink in her direction, blowing a kiss. I can see how hard she's blushing, even from that far away. But I can also see Grady glaring lasers at me.

After that, the game is pretty even. We score one, the other team scores one, and it keeps going for a while. Finally, I get fouled and we get free throws. Obviously, I make both of them.

Foster's cheering even louder, which boosts my competition until the final three minutes, where we're losing by four. One of my best buddies, #13 makes one, and then I make another one. The last fifty seconds, and we're tied.

"Keefe, watch out!" Foster shouted. I dodged a dude behind me, glancing at the clock as I move down the court. Ten seconds.

One super tall dude jumps in front of me, and I smirk. He smirks too, like he's just as confident. But this is perfect for my special move. I do it perfectly, almost graceful, and the ball rolls into the basket at the last second.

The crowd goes absolutely wild.

Sophie practically begs Grady to roll her down, and I ignore all of the news reporters, running straight towards Sophie and hugging her tightly.

"I love you, you big jerk." Sophie teased. Keefe grinned.

"Love you, too, Foster." He pulled away to face the news reporters, who were shouting at him.

"Is this your girlfriend?" Sophie blushes and Grady glares harder.

"How do you feel about winning the game?"

"Are you going to move on to the NBA?"

"What are your thoughts on-" Keefe held his hand up to silence the reporters.

"I'll give you guys a free interview, Sunday at 1:00 pm, at the plaza. I'll answer all of your questions." Keefe instructed. Surprisingly, the reporters respected him and left.

Edaline jumps in, "You two seem... Different."

Keefe and Sophie blush.

"Yeah, you do... Care to explain?" Grady said in a tone that made Keefe swallow hard.

"Dad, I love him." Sophie whispered. Grady's face softened, glancing from Sophie to Keefe. Then he glanced at his wife.

"We support you." Grady finally decided, putting his arm around Keefe.

Keefe felt like he was dreaming. His eyes burned as he pulled Grady into a hug. Grady seemed surprised, but he hugged Keefe back, patting his back comfortingly.

"Take good care of her, son. And please don't break her heart. Promise me." Grady whispered in his ear. Keefe blinked his tears back, nodding.

"I promise."

"Good. Now, let's go celebrate!" Grady shouted.
