(This entire part is Keefe's POV of the Sokeefe kiss. STARTING FROM PAGE 645 *STELLARLUNE SPOILERS*)
My eyes shifted to the red shirt Foster was wearing. It was her favorite color. She only wore it when she... When she wanted to impress someone.
I'm probably just daydreaming, but... What if she knew what I meant in my note? My eyes flicked away. Why was I scared?
Well... I can't feel what she's feeling anymore, so I guess that's a little scary.
I could see Foster blush. "You could've taken me with you, you know. Or at least left me another note telling me where you went."
We both froze, afraid to move.
I dragged my hand through my hair and chewed on my lip, wishing the wind wasn't so strong.
Foster hesitated for a second. "Do you want to go for a walk?" She asked, sighing with relief when I agreed.
"Are we heading anywhere in particular?" I asked, following her through the pastures.
"Not really. I just need to move. I've been stuck in one place for way too long." Foster replied. An idea flashed into my mind.
"I know the feeling. And I'd you don't have a specific spot in mind, then follow me. I found the coolest place the other night after training with Grady." I explained. I led her into the Grove and pointed at the trees I tried sleeping in. My favorites were the ones with the tiny blue glowworms inside.
"Sounds amazing." Foster said quietly. I couldn't tell if she was lying or not, since I couldn't read her emotions well, but I hoped she enjoyed watching them.
Suddenly, there was a thud, and Foster fell, clinging to my shoulders since I was walking in front of her.
"Sorry," She mumbled.
"You okay?" I asked when she kept holding on. "Did you hurt your ankle?"
"No. Just... Uh... Getting my bearings." She said, sounding embarrassed.
"Will this help?" I asked, trying to be brave. I took one of her hands, shifting positions so she could walk beside me. For some reason she didn't answer, but I couldn't stop my heart from fluttering a little bit as we walked.
"It's so weird," Foster mumbled. "I'm so used to having you feeling everything I'm feeling. It's strange not having you call me out on it all the time."
"Tell me about it." I grumbled, feeling grumpy. It would be nice to know what she was feeling right about now... I could feel a tiny glimpse of embarrassment... From her.
"Sorry, I didn't mean-"
"It's okay, Foster. I know what you meant. And just so you know, I can still pick up on certain things, especially from you. Pretty sure your emotions will always be stronger than everyone else's."
"Really?" She asked hopefully. I nodded. She returned the favor with one of her perfect smiles. My heart fluttered harder.
"I just... Wish I could get back to how it used to be." I said quietly. "It's hard not getting the whole picture. Makes me not want to trust anything I'm feeling, if that makes sense."
I felt a tiny spark of hope from Foster. But why? She seemed determined, too.
"Here we go." I said, pulling back the vines to show her the small clearing.
"Oh wow." Foster breathed, craning her neck to see the whole place. It was pretty cool...
"Did you know this place existed?" I asked.
