Chapter 31 (Frozen Fears and Nightly Reflections)

An island Kingdom was starting to get busy.

Thanks for the war the lost some Warriors and the others were injured.

This meant they did not have enough time to prepare for winter.

The brown-haired Leader looked around his Kingdom sadly.

He was waiting for something and it was coming.

Three Warriors came over to him filled with panic.

??????: You three came back. What was the water like?

?????: The water has frozen over! It is way to early!

The report made the Leaders stomach sink. Now the water is frozen they could not get their fish.

And now after the war they needed all the food they could get.

?????: What do you want us to do Marshfur?

Marshfur: I will go talk to Serena and see what she wants to do. You three can do whatever.

The three thanked their Leader and left him.

Marshfur didn't know if he should tell Serena about this.

His deputy was very dependable but what could she do but stress out.

He could never place the stress onto her.

Marshfur looked at the sky and tried to talk to his ancestors.

He asked if there was any hope for his Kingdom and if they could survive the winter.

But he had no sign of answer. Was there any hope?

Mist started to cover the Kingdom and he was shocked.

Did Mist Kingdoms win destroy the future of Snow Kingdom?

A yellow-haired female with a short tail came up to her Leader.

Marshfur: Serena! How are you?

Serena: I am fine. But I need to talk to you.

Marshfur: Of course Serena. What is bothering you?

Serena: It isn't me that is bothered. I am worried about you.

His brown tail bushed up. He did not want to be vulnerable.

Serena: What is going on!? As your Deputy I demand to know!

Marshfur: I am worried for the future of our Kingdom. What am I leaving you with?

The sun started to set and it seemed to turn the Kingdom blood red.

Serena: What are you talking about? We did so well to fight against that loser.

Marshfur: Chris did not deserve to do into the forest.

Serena: I agree. He is a traitor and his lies will be found out.

Marshfur: I don't know what we are going to do about food.

Serena: I can see if I can get something in the Reedy River?

The Reedy River was just that. A pond filled with seaweed. It was dangerous however.

Marshfur: I don't think it is a good idea. I can't risk my best Warrior.

Serena: I will be fine. Please let me help my Kingdom.

Marshfur: Alright I won't do anything to stop you but please wait until tomorrow.

Serena: Thank you. I will set a night patrol.

They both bowed in respect and Serena left.

By this time the night has fallen and killed the fog.

Marshfur looked at the black night sky and noticed something.

In the black canvas of the sky were two blue stars that looked like eyes.

Was this a sign for Snow Kingdom?
