Chapter 72: Battle with Sark
(A.K.A. The Fight We All Knew was Coming)
Sonic and Sark, a fight that was all but inevitable. The Planet of Mobius hanging in the balance as the two fiercely began battling.
"I've been patient with you for as long as possible, Sonic, but I've reached my limits!" Sark growled as he swung his fist at Sonic, who dodged.
"My limit for you was up the moment you walked in Tails' front door." The Blue Blur shot back as he homing attacked the demon, knocking him back.
"Don't forget, Sonic, I can do everything you can do." Sark said as he boosted into Sonic, sending him flying into the wall on the other side of the room.
"Sonic, are you ok?" Amelia asked.
"Stand back, Amelia, it's only going to get more brutal from here." He told her as he hopped right back into the fight. "Is that all you got? I thought the so-called 'Destroyer of Souls' packed more of a punch than that."
"You haven't seen shit from me, you fucking ingrate!" Sark roared as he charged up a beam attack.
"Whatever you got, bring it!" Sonic challenged, flashing his cocky grin.
Sark released his attack, which Sonic sidestepped as he immediately followed that by hopping up in the air towards Sark.
"Let yourself open." The demon grinned evilly.
"You think so, huh?" Sonic grinned back.
Sark made a quick beam attack, which Sonic dodged by doing a quick step in the air and boosting into Sark, repaying him for moments ago. "Doesn't feel good, does it?" The hedgehog backed.
"Joke all you want, but you're not leaving alive."
"Do you know how many times someone has told me that? I'm not fazed, especially coming from you."
"Bold words, Hedgehog, perhaps too bold. I hope you enjoyed your meaningless life because it's reached its conclusion!" Sark yelled as he and Sonic charged at one another, continuing their fight.
"I'm taking care of you here and now! You've had your playtime, but it's time for an indefinite time out!" Sonic joked.
"Keep running your mouth while you still can!" Sark growled as he swung at Sonic, who countered with an uppercut, which was also countered by a kick to the face.
Sonic charged a spin dash and took off to Sark.
"Yeah, that's not going to work." The demon said as he caught the attack and slammed Sonic down, knocking him out of his ball form, and placing his foot on Sonic's throat. "I warned you, Sonic. You could have let bygones be bygones, but no, you just had to be the hero as always."
"Did you really think that I would just let you conquer my world and run with it? Not a chance in hell!" Sonic gasped due to his throat being crushed.
"Well, looks like this is it for you, Sonic. I'd say it's been nice knowing you, but it obviously hasn't been." Sark told him.
"You think I don't have any tricks up my sleeve left? I've got one last act for you." Sonic grinned as he rotated the green ring around his wrist.
"HA! What is twirling your stupid ring going to do?"
Suddenly, a green shield spawned around Sonic, sending Sark flying and allowing Sonic to catch his breath.
"Never thought I would ever have to thank Eggman for saving my life." Sonic stated to himself.
"This little shield won't save you, Sonic." Sark said, getting up.
"Actually, it will. You see, Eggman managed to find the one thing in the Multiverse that can stop a demon like you, and that's a green ring like this. Somehow, ol' Eggy managed to make this gizmo project a shield that has the ring's properties. In other words, you can't hit me." Sonic explained.
"This shouldn't even be a thing! No stupid shield can slow me down!"
Sark then unleashed a barrage of attacks on the shield, but as Sonic stated, Sark could do nothing. If anything, he was doing more harm than good as the shield was not just protecting Sonic, but was siphoning energy from Sark until he could barely stand.
"This can't be happening! I don't lose. I don't lose to versions like you." Sark squeaked out in lethargy and disbelief.
"You've been losing for quite some time now. Honestly, you've been losing since I figured out what was happening." Sonic said as he charged up a Light Speed Attack. "And this is the kill blow." Sonic released the attack and knocked Sark through his throne.
The demon tried to get up, but immediately fell back down, finally defeated.
