We saw a figure in the distance while we were flying around, and Zën hesitated and slowed down before we reached them. "Do we want to see who this is?" he asked and flicked his tail, narrowing his eyes while he looked at them.

I hesitated before I slowly nodded, nervous as well. "I think it is Carter," I said and shifted a little on his back but not enough to fall off. "I mean, he is the only one that is supposed to be in here."

"But what is he doing, and are you sure that it is Carter?" Zën asked and flicked his ears to the back of his head while he turned his head a little too look at me. "I mean, he is not short but is a freaking giant."

I bit back a small snort and rolled my eyes, pressing my lips into a thin line. "Carter is a fucking giant, Zën," I said sarcastically, and Zën flicked his tail in annoyance. "Remember? We saw him as a giant when we went to rescue Kala."

Zën hesitated before he slowly nodded, and I could tell that he remembered the fight that we had been through together. "So, are we checking to see if he is ok?" he asked, and I nodded, silently agreeing.

"Yes," I verbally confirmed and nudged him a little when he hesitated some more. "We are going to go check and make sure that he is fine." I paused and bit the inside of my lip, feeling very nervous as well because I had no idea if this was going to cause our end. "I don't know if we need anything to protect ourselves with, but I am praying that we don't."

Zën bit back a small chuckle, and he mentally nodded. "Ok," he said before he started to fly toward him. "Are we going to say anything to him, or are we just going to sneak up on him and scare him?"

I pressed my lips into a thin line before I sighed and shook my head, biting back a small chuckle because a part of me wanted to scare him but knew that it wasn't a good idea. "Let's get a little closer before we say something to him," I said, and he nodded in confirmation. "As much as I want to scare him, I do not think it is a good idea."

"I don't want to either," he said, and I bit back a small chuckle. He paused and flicked his tail back and forth in nervousness. "Do you think he will be pleased that we are talking with each other again and the fact that you trusted me enough to break the bracelet?"

"Yes," I confirmed and nodded. I bit the inside of my lip again while I stared at Carter, feeling very nervous as well. "Go ahead and continue toward him ok?"

Zën nodded in agreement and slowly started to go closer, picking up his speed ever so slightly, even though there was a small bit of nervousness while he flew toward him, and I could tell that he was wondering the same thing as me.

Was he himself, or was he being controlled again..?

Cheerful whistling filled the air around us the closer we got to Carter, and I couldn't help but smile a little, recognizing the tune from a past that seemed so long ago, even though it had only been a couple of months...

"He's fine," I said, biting back a small sigh of relief, with my shoulders sagging in relief while I looked at the male. "He is himself and is not controlled."

Zën looked at me and narrowed his eyes, but he kept flying toward Carter because he trusted me. "Are you sure?" he asked and cocked his head a little before he turned his attention back to the giant that was slowly getting closer and closer with each beat of his wings.

"Yes," I confirmed and nodded again. "He is safe. I can tell because of the happy tune that he is whistling."

"Hmph." Zën narrowed his eyes further, and I could tell that he didn't believe me but still trusted me enough to go ahead and do what I told him. "Then go ahead and call out to him," he said when we were in earshot of the giant. "We are close enough for him to hear you."

"Carter," I called out like Zën suggested, and the whistling stopped while the giant turned our way, and I breathed a small sigh of relief when I saw that it was Carter and saw that he wasn't controlled.

Thank Gods...

Carter grinned and waved in greet before he turned his attention back to his project at hand. He started to whistle again, and I held back an eye roll while I scowled and pressed my lips into a thin line.

I didn't say another word while we continued our way toward him, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing and why he was out here all alone.

"What are you doing, Carter?" Zën asked, asking what I was thinking, and Carter stopped whistling again but continued to work on his project, not caring that we were there and coming toward him. "Are you working on something for us?"

"Yes," Carter said and nodded in confirmation while he continued to work on the thing for us, not even stopping so that we could talk to him better. "Have you two gotten over your... "rift?"" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he glanced at us before he continued with his work.

I rolled my eyes and scowled, and he grinned innocently, his lips disappearing into his beard. "There wasn't a rift between us, Carter, but it was something else entirely different," I said, and he shrugged and smiled while he looked at us before he went back to his work.

"Well?" he asked and looked at us again with a raised eyebrow in question, pausing in his work. "Are you talking to each other again? Can you hear him?" He looked at Zën before he looked at me.

"I can," I confirmed and nodded. I bit my lip and cleared my throat while I shifted on Zën's back. "It's... a long story," I said. "I don't know if you are wanting to hear it or not, but yes, I can hear him."

Carter nodded, and I could hear this small sigh of relief that he tried not to let me hear but I could anyway. "Thank Gods," he muttered, and I bit back a small snort and rolled my eyes, pressing my lips into a thin line. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "Why don't you two land, and I will join you all in a minute. I am almost done, and I can explain what this is to you both later when I am done completing it."

Zën hesitated and looked at me, and I had a feeling that he wanted to know if I wanted to do what we were told to do.

I bit back an annoyed sigh before I slowly nodded because I wanted to see what Carter had planned for us. "Ok," I said and looked at Zën. "Zën, go ahead and land. Let's see what he wants us to do when he is done with this... thing."

Zën hesitated before he slowly nodded and slowly started to land, flicking his tail in annoyance and nervousness without a comment or starting a fight, and I couldn't help but breathe a small sigh of relief, grateful that he wasn't going to fight.

Let's just hope that this won't be our end...
