Modern Helen of Troy–
the face desired by countless boys,
your beauty is preyed on by so many,
every move is subject to scrutiny.
They call you many names:
Mary Magdalene, fallen out of grace;
Mona Lisa, perfect beauty in a frame;
Madonna enthroned Joan in flames.
Modern Helen of Troy–
patronized through their lustful voice
but your worth wasn't meant to be sold–
you're more than a penny, more precious than gold.
And they will call you many names:
Mother Theresa, Princess Diana,
Catherine the Great and Anne Frank;
truth to be told, you're not just Helen of Troy–
you are a woman, a woman of choice.
