Chapter 8

Nikki's P.O.V

I was at the table having dinner with my Nan when my phone buzzed. I didn't want to answer it at the table and be rude so I asked my Nan if I could be excused to go to the toilet. "Yes, of course dear!" She answered. I smiled and got up from the table. When I was out of sight of my Nan I pulled my phone out to see my phone was blinking. An unknown number was calling... Who could this be? I swiped my phone to answer the call and held it to my ear.

"Hello?" I questioned into the phone. "Hi, babe." A male voice answered. "Um, who is this...?" I asked, slightly weirded out. "Guess..." The voice answered and you could tell that there was a smirk on the speakers face. "SpongeBob is that you?" I asked with fake amazement in my voice. The speaker laughed and I knew in an instant who it was. "HAYES!!" I screamed, before realising that I was meant to be on the toilet. "Woah, no need to be so loud!" Hayes answered, laughing. "I'm sorryyyyyy..." I apologised dragging it out. "I've just got home from the mall and I'm bored... Meet me?" Hayes whined. "Hayes you know I can't..." I said with a hint of sadness in my voice. "Sneak out or make an excuse...?" He pleaded. "Fine, I'll sort it. Where am I meeting you?" I asked. "Willows park?" He said. "Okay, see you soon." I said. "Byeeeeeee!" He laughed then hung up.

I walked back to the table and told my Nan that I didn't feel well and needed some air. She said I could go out but to make sure I was back by 9 so she could drop me home. With that I walked to the park.

I got to the park and sat on the swing as Hayes wasn't here yet. I'd been waiting for a while now when I see him running towards me shouting that he was sorry. Apparently he was late because Skylynn, his little sister, decided to put cream in his shoes. He was still yelling when he fell over. I could not stop laughing and he didn't seem to happy about it... "You want to carry on laughing?" Hayes said warningly. "Yeah it's funny!" I said still laughing. "Are you sure?" He said with a smirk on his face walking towards me. At this point he was starting to scare me a little bit but it was very intriguing at the same time. "Not so funny now is it?" He said when I had stopped laughing. He was now towering over me and my back was pressed against the wall. I shook my head agreeing that it was no longer funny. I looked into his eyes and he stared back, his face softened. He looked confused as if not knowing what he should do next. We both knew what could happen and I think we both thought it was too soon. We were still standing there... As much as you think it would be it was not awkward at all. I was enjoying this and I think he was too. "Hi." He said softly. "Hey." I said back as if we were meeting for the first time but in a totally different way.

I checked the time. Shit! It was 5 minutes to 9 and I needed to get home. "Hayes I've got to go! I have to be back in 5 minutes!" I exclaimed and as if on cue it started to pour down with rain. "Oh for fucks sake!" I cried up at the sky! "Come on let's go!" He grabbed my hand and we ran to my Nan's house.

Hayes' P.O.V

The rain stopped as we had arrived at Nikki's Nan's. "Thanks for a great night." She said smiling. "No, thank you." I said, surprised by how much fun I actually had. She got her key out and unlocked the door. She turned around and hugged me then walked in the house. "Night Hayes." And with that she shut the door behind her.

Today something happened I'm not quite sure what it was but I know that I never wanted that day to end.
