___________________________________________It was the next day at the mansion. After Subaru and Y/N expressed their wishes for their rewards, Subaru, the dark-haired boy, began his work as a servant. Rem and Ram were assigned as his tutors, not only teaching him how to care for the mansion but also giving him lessons in reading and writing. During the mornings and afternoons, Subaru would fulfill his duties as a butler, and at night, he and Y/N would attend their lessons.
As for Y/N, he had been granted an indefinite stay at the Marquis' mansion and given access to the grand forbidden library, which was under the domain of the great spirit, Beatrice.
In the morning, Subaru was guided by the twin maids through the mansion, where they showed him all the rooms and explained his tasks. Strangely, Subaru didn't seem very surprised by what he saw. Y/N, on the other hand, had his own plans. He decided to head to the library with his spirit, Yshra, with the goal of not only expanding his knowledge of magic but also strengthening his bond with a certain small, blonde-haired girl.
The mansion was quiet in the early hours, the morning sun casting long shadows through the tall windows, bathing the hallways in a soft, golden light. As Y/N made his way towards the library, he couldn't help but admire the grandeur of the place. The elegant architecture, the polished marble floors, and the intricate woodwork all spoke of wealth and power. Yet, despite its beauty, the mansion had an air of loneliness about it, as if its splendor was a mere facade for something deeper, something hidden.
Y/N's thoughts drifted back to the events of the previous day. His mind replayed the conversation with Roswaal, the enigmatic marquis who seemed to control everything within the mansion. There was something about Roswaal that Y/N couldn't shake off-a deep unease that lingered every time he thought of the man. He knew all too well from the stories in his world that Roswaal was a puppet master, obsessed with his goals to the point of sacrificing anyone and anything that stood in his way. The marquis' obsession with a certain witch had caused immense suffering to many people Y/N admired and cared about, and it made him wary of the man.
As he approached the doors to the forbidden library, Y/N felt a sense of determination wash over him. He wasn't just here to learn about magic; he was here to make a difference. He thought about Ram, the pink-haired maid who had been turned into a puppet by Roswaal's manipulations. Her loyalty to the marquis, despite all she had lost, was a clear sign of the Stockholm syndrome she had developed. Y/N knew he had to help her break free from that mental prison, even if it meant going up against someone as powerful as Roswaal.
Pushing the heavy doors open, Y/N stepped into the library. The air inside was cool and filled with the scent of old books and parchment. The walls were lined with towering shelves, each packed with countless volumes, some ancient and others more recent. In the center of the room, surrounded by stacks of books, sat Beatrice, her small form barely visible behind the large tome she was reading.
