The air was cool and crisp, the faint scent of pine trees and freshly fallen snow filling the air as you stepped out of your dorm. It was one of those rare holidays when everyone could take a breather, and you had been looking forward to it for weeks. More than the school break itself, you were excited about the fact that your parents had invited you and Bakugou out on a double date.
He had already met your parents a few times and surprisingly, things had gone well between them. Bakugou's usual fiery temper had tempered a little around them, and he seemed to genuinely enjoy their company, despite his gruff exterior. They, in turn, had warmed up to him.
It wasn't every day that they got to see their daughter with someone so... intense. But after a few awkward encounters, they had found a common ground with him. It was now a tradition for them to invite you both for special occasions, and this time, it was a dinner to celebrate the holiday season.
When you had told Bakugou about the invitation, his first reaction was typical: "Tch, whatever." But as the day drew closer, you could tell he was more curious than anything else. Bakugou had been raised differently, and family events weren't exactly his thing. But seeing how important it was to you, he had agreed. And that was saying something.
You smiled at the thought of how far he'd come. The old Bakugou would have never considered something like this, but now... now he was doing his best to be part of it all.

The evening had arrived, and you stood in front of the mirror in your dorm room, adjusting the collar of your coat. You'd picked out something simple yet elegant, something that would fit well for a dinner with your parents, but also wouldn't make Bakugou feel uncomfortable if it got too formal. As much as you wanted to look nice, you didn't want him to think it was too much.
You heard a knock at your door, and your heart skipped a beat.
"Dumbass, you ready?" Bakugou's voice came from the other side, a little louder than it needed to be.
You took a deep breath and smiled, walking over to open the door. Standing there, dressed in his usual black jacket and dark jeans, was Bakugou. His eyes softened a little when he saw you. "You look fine," he said, his voice gruff but laced with an unspoken compliment.
You rolled your eyes, trying to fight back a grin. "You're not even looking properly, are you?"
Bakugou's scowl deepened, but you could see the faint blush on his cheeks. "Tch. You look fine. Let's just go. Your parents are waiting, right?"
You laughed softly, grabbing your bag. "Yeah, let's go."
The drive to your parents' house was relatively short, with them living just a few blocks away. You and Bakugou were in his car, and although he was usually a bit of a wild driver, today he was calm, focusing on the road and tapping his fingers against the steering wheel.
"I'm not gonna screw this up," he muttered under his breath, but you caught it.
"What?" You glanced over at him, raising an eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?"
Bakugou shot you a quick, almost unnoticeable glance. "I just... don't want to mess things up with your parents. They've already met me a lot of times before, but they might think I'm some kinda... I don't know, too much. I don't know how to act around them."
You blinked, surprised by his confession. Bakugou, the guy who could face down any villain without blinking, was nervous about dinner with your parents? You placed a hand on his arm gently, giving him a reassuring squeeze.
"Kat'ski," you said softly, "you're doing great, if you ask me. My parents like you, and they can see how much you care about me. That's all that matters to them."
