In Love With a Human

Chapter 1

~Rachel~

"Mom!" I yelled, tears streaming down my face, as I watched my mother being dragged to land in a fishing net

"Rachel! Go now!" she screamed at me

I grabbed her outstretched hand "No I'm not leaving you."

She smiled with sorrowful eyes "Go baby. You have to go or they'll catch you too."

I leaned into her hand that she placed on my face

"I love you" she smiled "Now go."

I nodded "I love you too."  and swam away

I got to a big rock far enoff away from shore, but I could still see everything. I peered to the side and watched as they dragged mom up onto the shore.

"We got one!" yelled a man

A tall middle-aged man came into view. He had short grey hair and a scare down his right eye. He smiled and watch mom struggle against the three men trying to keep her down.

She hissed and struggle trying to throw the men off of her, just as her tail melted away and was replaced by two human legs.

"Oh even better. A transformative mermaid." smiled the scare man

Mom was getting weaker and weaker every second she was on land.

"What do you want?" she asked breathing deeply

"Cry for me, and i'll let you go." He said leaning down to her

"No."

The man looked at the now setting moon "You have until sunrise to make your decision." he nodded at his men

They tied her to the side of th dock.

"If I don't get a tear by sunrise, well..." he looked up at the sky

She put her head down as they walked away.

I swam to her but she stopped me by shaking her head. My eyes connected with hers.

'Go baby. I'll be fine, I love you.'

She smiled at me and I nodded. I swam away crying the whole way home.
