In Love With a Human

Chapter 9

~Rachel~

"Mom, he kissed me and I kissed him back. If this isn't right then why does it feel so good?" I said to Mom's grave "I need you mommy. I'm so confused."

"What are you confused about?" asked a voice behind me

I turned to Maureen "Nothing."

She gave me a look "I know you better than that. Besides you look like you're glowing. What happened?"

"Nothing go away please." I said turning back around to the stone

"I will find out what you're hiding." she turned, flipping her red tail in my face

I sighed "I don't know what to do. I feel so safe with him. Like he understands me, but I'm scared because of the queen. She will kill him if she finds out that I'm....in love....with a human."

I heard a gasp and turned to see Maureen swimming away.

"Maureen! Don't!" but she was so far away

I swam as fast as I could, I needed to get to Will before Maureen.

"Maureen please don't!" I yelled at the top of my lungs

No awnser....

~Will~

I sat on the side of the pool still thinking about our kiss. I kissed her finally! It wasn't like any other kiss. I didn't feel this way after any other girl I kissed, but Rachel...she was amazing.

Just then a head poked out of the water.

"Rachel." I smiled

She reached up to kiss me and I leaned down and down. The first thing that touched my lips was water, I opened my eyes and saw her smiling her arms were around my neck and she pulled me into the water and dove.

The air left my lungs as I gasped for air but only getting water. I looked into the eyes of my mermaid, but they quickly turned from green to brown. Then I noticed her hair and face turned into someone who was not Rachel.

I thrashed against her but she was strong. Dang she was really strong.

My eyelids drooped and the last thing I saw was the brown eyed mermaid being through off me.

"Rachel." I gargled as my eyelids closed

~Rachel~

I got there just in time. Maureen was killing him. My human. I grabbed her and threw her off of him. She starred at me and smiled.

"The queen will not be happy about this."

I shook my head and swam over to Will. His eyes were closed. I shot up out of the water and dragged him onto the beach.

"Will! Will! I'm so sorry. I should've left you. You would be safe. Will! Wake up! Wake up!" I shouted to him

I turned back to Maureen "I swear if you've killed him. I will kill you."

She shook her head "I did you a favor he was going to die anyway with her majesty coming after him."

Anger boiled in me "She wouldn't have known! I would've kept him safe!"

"You couldn't keep him safe from me. How could you expect to keep him safe from her majesty?" she asked folding her arms across her chest

"I don't know." I looked back at Will, he coughed "Go he's waking up."

Maureen sighed "Just warning you. I did what I did to help you." she turned and swam away

I looked at Will just as he opened his eyes. Those deep blue eyes I get lost in every time I look at him.

"Rachel." he reached up to touched the side of my face

I brushed some wet bangs from his forehead "I'm here I'm sorry. So sorry."

He smiled "It's ok."

My tail melted away as Will stood up. He held out his hand "Come on."

"I can't stay on land for very long." I said taking his hand

"Do you trust me?" he asked

Do I? Do I trust him?

"Will?" called a voice "Will are you down here?"

Will looked up. He stripped off his t-shirt he was wearing and put it on me.

"Will there you are-" the voice stopped and I looked up to see a girl with long blond hair standing and starring at me

"Emma...hi. What are you doing back?" Will asked the girl, Emma? Was it?

"I just wanted to make sure you were ok. Since you didn't call me I thought something bad had happened." she said still eyeing me

"Oh Emma this is Rachel. Rachel this is my beast friend Emma." Will said smiling slightly

"Hi." Emma said and put a hand toward me

I squirmed away afraid of any other human besides Will.

Emma looked at Will puzzled. Will smiled a little "She's shy."

Emma looked hurt but put her hand down "Ok. Well I was wondering if you wanted to go out for some ice-cream."

Will looked to me then back at Emma and shrugged "I don't know."

"Rachel can come too." she smiled at me

"Maybe. Hey can I met you back up at the house?" Will said

"Ok. I'll see you later." she said turning away

"I don't know, but do you want to come?" Will asked me

"I can't I'm sorry I can't stay on land that long." I said stumbled toward the water

Will grabbed me and helped me into the water

"Thank you." I turned to leave, but he didn't let go

"Rachel. Thanks." he leaned down and kissed me again

I smiled and pulled away "Bye Will."
