Chapter 11

~Rachel~

"You're really going through with this?" asked Maureen

"You made it so that I have to." I said pulling my tail up to my chest

She sighed "I just thought that if you did fall in love-"

"I'm already in love with him Maureen. I can't just let him die and you told her!" I said sobbing

Maureen swam next to me "Rachel stop it. I'm sorry. How many times do I have to say it? I'm sorry for almost killing him. I'm sorry for telling her majesty about him. I'm sorry."

I turned so she could see my face "Maureen I thought you were my friend."

Maureen nodded "I'm sorry. I'm sorry sososososososososo sorry."

I sighed "Fine but your not the only person you have to apologize to."

She nodded "Let's go."

"Are you sure?"

She nodded "Yes. Let's go."

"Ok." I said getting up

A few minutes later we were at the pool inside the cave. I was sitting on the side and Maureen was looking around.

"Where is he?" she asked

I shrugged "Probably coming he always comes about this same time."

She nodded just as Will walked in.

"Hey. I'm sorry my bike-" he stared at Maureen

"Will it's ok. She has something to tell you." I looked at Maureen

She looked at Will "I want to apologize for my behavior. It was inconsiderate for me to do that to the both of you. I wasn't being a good friend to Rachel. Do you forgive me?"

Will looked at me then back to her "If she does then I guess I do too."

Maureen smiled "Thank you so much...."

"Will."

"Will, ok thank you Will." she smiled then turned to me "I'll leave you guys alone."

She swam under.

"Do you trust her?" Will asked sitting next to me

I shrugged "I don't know. She's been my friend since I was little, but if I know Maureen she will do anything for the sea goddess."

"So what are you saying?" he asked

"She might rat us out. Maybe even tell her majesty about us." I said

Will nodded "I understand what do you want to do?"

I shrugged "I don't know, but our problem at hand is finding out a hole in her majesty's decision."

Will nodded again "Ok any ideas?"

"Ideas on what?" said a voice coming into the cave

I gasped and dove under, but it was to late.....

~Will~

"Emma." I said running over to her

"S-s-she has a-a-a-" Emma stuttered starring into the pool

"What are you talking about?" I asked trying to find out what she saw

"Rachel, that girl, or thing she's a...a...a mermaid." Emma said wide eyed "Ou my god I need to go."

Emma ran out side.

"Emma! No stop! Please!" I yelled after her

She got to her car and got in, but I pulled the door back "Emma! Stop, please don't say anything."

She looked up at me "Will. I...I..." she sighed "I'm sorry.

I didn't let go "Emma please promise."

She shook her head "Will she's not one of us! She's not human! Why are you trying so hard to protect her?"

I looked at the ground then back at her "I love her Emma. If you got to know her too you would love her too."

Emma looked straight a head and shook her head "Will, let go."

"Not until you promise not to say anything about Rachel."

She thought for a moment then said "Will she doesn't belong here. Sue needs go home and stay there."

"She needs me Emma, more than you know ok? She's in a tough situation right now." I said

"Will please don't do this to yourself. You get so caught up with someone and end up getting hurt. Please Will." she begged

"Let me handle it ok?" I said sternly

"I'm sorry but I'm not risking my best friend's safety." she said and with that she slammed the door just as I pulled my hand away at the last second and she drove off.
