The battleship sailed once again through the open waters.
The ocean breeze was calm, the waves gentle beneath the hull of the ship. But despite the tranquility of the sea, the echoes of battle still lingered.
The sight of those wooden ships, torn apart in an instant by the ship's guns, replayed in my mind. Their burning wreckage sinking beneath the waves.
I don't think it was a battle.
It was a massacre.
But anyway, our next destination lay ahead, to the Federation. Specifically, to my clan.
The Fiest Clan's headquarters, or probably its capital stood on the southernmost island of the Federation's territory, a naval or port city built overlooking the ocean.
I was leaning back in the captain's seat, arms crossed behind my head, letting the ocean breeze wash over me.
The low hum of the ship's engines mixed with the sound of waves gently breaking against the hull.
The salty air was refreshing, but my mind kept circling back to the wreckage we left behind.
Yeah... massacre was the right word.
"How's Nathalie?" I asked lazily without opening my eyes.
"She's fine," Lira's voice came from nearby. "Resting."
I cracked an eye open and saw her standing at my side, her hair swaying lightly with the breeze. She glanced at me, then gave me a crooked smile. "She's tougher than you, honestly."
"Wow." I sat up a bit. "That's harsh."
"Just stating facts." She shrugged, her smile widening.
"By the way, where are we going?" she asked, leaning casually against the side of my seat.
"We're going back." I stretched my arms and let out a yawn. "To the Heptaclan Federation, to my clan's."
"Heptaclan Federation?" She tilted her head. "I haven't heard of a country like that."
"Yeah, well... It is as expected," I said, sitting up a little straighter. "We don't even know what this world is, or what that Empire is—which, by the way, I just blew a chunk out of their military."
She raised an eyebrow. "Bold of you to pick a fight with a country you know nothing about."
"Bold? Or stupid?"
Should I tell her? That we're not from this world?
Ah, screw it. She'll figure it out sooner or later anyway.
"Actually," I said, scratching the back of my neck, "we're... not from this world."
Lira's eyes narrowed slightly. "Come again?"
I sighed and sat up properly, resting my elbows on my knees. "Yeah. We're not from here. We come from... another world."
Lira's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Hmm. Just like those in the legends?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Legends?"
She shrugged, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "There are old stories about beings from another world. Powerful, advanced, bringing strange technology and knowledge. Some say they were gods; others say they were demons."
"Well, we're definitely not gods." I paused. "Or demons."
"Could've fooled me." Her lips curled into a smirk. "Your ship pretty much obliterated an entire fleet without breaking a sweat."
