Izuku's friends constantly set him up on blind dates, which his roommate, Katsuki, hated.
It wasn't his friends trying to set him up-at least, that's not how it started. One day, Izuku randomly asked them if they could help set him up with someone they thought he'd be compatible with, much to their surprise.
It wasn't much of a secret that Katsuki had feelings for Izuku, but for some odd reason despite being told that, the greenette thought it was ridiculous.
"Kacchan doesn't like me that way! We're just really good friends! We've always been really close growing up!"
Sure, but the heavy amount of favoritism Katsuki placed on Izuku made it quite evident that it wasn't just because they were 'good friends'.
Regardless, it was something Izuku requested, so his friends complied, attempting to find a compatible significant other for him and setting up dates for them to formally meet.
Luckily for Katsuki, none of these dates ever go well. Either Izuku finds something he doesn't like about the other person (of course being as polite as he can about it) or the date ends up not liking Izuku, which only pisses off Katsuki when Izuku tells him how those dates go.
"Huh!? What do you mean he said you had 'too many freckles for his liking'!? I'm gonna blast that motherfucker to hell!"
"K-Kacchan! It's not that serious, I swear! I thought it was kind of funny, actually. I've never heard anyone say that before."
"Yeah, cuz it's rude AND because it's untrue! You have a perfect amount of freckles!"
"I- Ah... Thank you?"
At some point, their friends just didn't understand how Izuku didn't take the hint already or why Katsuki wouldn't just make a move either, but they were both truly stupid when it came to their feelings for one another.
So, the game kept going.
At least until one particular date night...
Normally when Izuku would go out on these dates, Katsuki would stay in their shared apartment and sulk at his absence, pretending like it didn't bother him, even though it did every time and everyone knew that.
Kirishima showed up at his place uninvited, which Katsuki made very clear when greeting him, shutting the door on him but keeping it unlocked as a sign that he could come in still if he really wanted to.
"You know, this wouldn't be a problem if you just asked him out already. How many months has he been going on these dates now?"
"Nine months and two weeks, but who's keeping track anyway?"
Kirishima glared at him, "Right... Well, if you don't feel like acting like a sad pup waiting for its owner to get home, Mina and the others are at the bar downtown and I was on my way there if you wanted to join?"
"You know I hate alcohol," Katsuki complained.
"I know, but they got games there too! Pool table, darts, stuff like that! Just to keep you occupied! Come on, it's been a while since you've hung out with us!"
