Sure it was hard being blunt towards Calum, but I really didn't have a choice. It has been 2 months since he went back to the tour and I still couldn't bring myself to say he was right about Dylan.
I was in the library getting ready to leave after studying here for a couple hours with Syd. Dylan walked through the door, being I asked him to pick me up since I walked this morning.
"Hey beautiful." He smiled, kissing my forehead.
"Hello hello." I blushed. After saying a goodbye to Sydney, we headed out and got into his car.
"Want to go grab something to eat?" He turned his head to ask. "Sounds like a plan!" I nodded and he continued to drive on.
We listened to the radio, only to here the boy's recent song "She Looks So Perfect."
I couldn't stop smiling. I was honestly so proud of them, even if I wasn't really on good terms with half of them. Whipping out my phone, I texted Calum.
To : Calum
Okay, I know I've been quite the bitch to you lately and I'm sorry. You're my best friend and don't deserve that. I just wanted to say that I heard your new song on the radio and I love it so much.
Hitting sent, I got a reply quicker than I would have thought.
From : Calum
It was my fault, don't sweat it. And I'm glad you like it. We we'ren't really sure if it would be a hit, but I'm glad it's gotten so much attention.
"Who's that?" Dylan slightly leaned over, trying to look at my messages. I pushed him back in his seat. "Keep your eyes on the road! I don't feel like dying today. It's only Calum, anyway."
He did as I said, soon pulling into the drive through of, ironically, Luke's family's restaurant.
Trying to open the door, Dylan quick locked it so I couldn't get out. "Can we talk real quick?"
I furrowed my eyebrows and sat back. "Um, sure."
"Okay well I don't want to seem like the bad guy here, but I don't think you should continue talking to Calum and the others."
"W-What?" I spat, not agreeing with him.
"It's just, I don't think it's a good idea. Especially since one of them's your ex."
"This is ridiculous." I unlocked the door, walking out and into the restaurant to avoid the conversation. He couldn't tell me what to do.
"Mackenzie! So nice to see you!" I was greeted by Andrew and surprisingly, Jack. He was Luke's older brother, who I had only met once before.
"Hello there Mackenzie." Jack flashed a smile, helping me and Dylan to a table.
"I'm sorry." Dylan mumbled looking at me, but I didn't say anything back and just continued to look at my menu.
"Why does Spanish class suck so much?" I randomly said after a few minutes of silence, catching the brown haired boy off guard. "I mean, she gives us all this stuff, rambling in her accent that no one can understand. Then she expects us to take a test on something we barely know. She's so fucking crazy." I sighed. "She thinks we can like read her mind or something. Typically I love that class, but ever since this year it's stressing me out!"
"Hey calm down," He reached across the table, grabbing my hand in his. "It'll all be okay, just breathe."
I nodded, trying to stop freaking out. I looked up to be met with his adorable brown eyes and smiled.
