a couple of days later, charlie finally worked up the nerve to open the envelope with a big black four scrawled on it.
the one simply stated "first tour". as if ashton couldn't bring himself to write any more.
the song started with "within a minute i was all packed up, i got a ticket to another world. i don't wanna go." charlie started crying at the world minute.
when she got to the pre-chorus and chorus, charlie genuinely had to work to push herself to read the lyrics. it flooded back all of the pain and heartbreak of when ashton had left for tour. they had been dating for a year and a half and had never been away from each other longer than two weeks. ashton was touring for six months, with no break.
as soon as it got to "another day and i'm somewhere new, i made a promise that I'll come home soon. bring me back, bring me back to you" charlie could barely read the words through her tears. she couldn't imagine how the tune went because although she knew they had released it, she made an effort to avoid all thing '5 seconds of summer' related.
the fact that the lyrics were "my heart wants to come home" made it even worse for her.
