A/N: HAHAHHA, NO DANCE YET. Soon :)))) (next chapter) and this chapter kind of sucks. whatever. I'll make it up to you guys with the next chapter!!!!!!!!
"Hello?"
Gerard signs into the phone. "Hi dad."
"Gerard! Hi, son, how's Hawaii having you?" His father's happy voice comes through the line. The seventeen year old curls himself up in the resort's deep purple armchair next to the cord phone, tangling his fingers nervously in the wire. He tries to drain his voice of its apprehension, but it's clear as day.
"Great, dad, but uh," He bites down on his lip, slurring his sentence marginally. "Remember a while ago, when I was over for the weekend, I didn't know how I felt about Frank and I was confused about my sexuality?
His dad hums. Gerard checks if he's alone, even though he knows the rest of his group went down to the beach. "Well, I figured it out."
"What's the verdict?"
Gerard crosses his legs, putting one elbow on his knee and his chin in his hand. He frowns. "I'm in love."
His father's laugh comes in like a muffled cough. "Are you sure, love seems like a exaggeration-"
"No, dad, it's love, I'm sure." Gerard whines, sliding his forehead into his palm.
"Well, Gee, you can understand why I wouldn't be so sure... considering that love should be a happy, giddy feeling... You just sound kind of frustrated." His father explains, a nervous laugh as an intermission. "And sad." He continues. He lets out a moan.
"I know! But he makes me feel... things!"
"Things?"
"Yeah, things! Like... sweaty palms, bubble gut, heart palpations?"
His father is silent for a couple of seconds. "Sounds like anemia... you should get your mom to take you to the doctor."
Gerard exhales with an eye roll. "Haha, very funny! But I swear, I love him. And it terrifies me."
"Well... are you going to tell him?"
"He asked me to go with him to a dance, which I hope I don't shit myself or something in front of a ton of people. He wanted to dress me and everything... which also terrifies me greatly. He's going to put me in a button up shirt or something!"
"Gerard Arthur Way must be in love to be seen in a button up! Send me pictures, okay?"
He scowls at the phone. "Always the joker, I'm glad you can still keep your humour alive and well while your seventeen year old son is floundering for some kind of normal feelings towards his best friend." Gerard sighs when he hears his dad hum. "I want-"
As if on cue, Frank comes stumbling in, wet and smiling in Gerard's direction. "Hey Gee-"
"-Candy!" Gerard knows he's an absolute abomination as he shouts the words of the first song that comes to his head into the mic. As if once wasn't bad enough, he panics and continues to sing. "I want candy!" He hesitates complete the song and Gerard slams the phone down on the receiver, ending the call from Hell with his most definitely confused father. The sound of plastic colliding causes Frank to jump.
Gerard turns away from the phone, feeling his face go bright red. Frank, not coming near the teenager, tilts his head to the side and asks with great pity in this voice; "Uh, whatcha doing?"
"Singing, obviously, what else would I be doing?" Gerard laughs a bit too easily, voice strained with the desperation for please believe me. Frank looks completely lost but shrugs, leaving damp footprints on the ugly carpet as he walks into the washroom.
