She stood there, in the busy morning streets of New York, gazing at the building before her.

Dance With Me

It was the first complete cast rehearsals before Sway 5. For the past couple of months, she'd been practicing, but not with him. Every time she had to practice, he was either out of the city or was just 'busy', leaving her to practice with someone other than him. She wasn't a fool, she knew he was trying to distant himself from her. However, she couldn't figure out the reason behind it, and she's without doubt, better off not knowing. She concluded that this would be her last time doing Sway, maybe then he wouldn't have to try so hard to avoid her.
She sighed and walked into the building.

"Meryl!" The lady at the front desk called. Meryl spotted her and went straight towards the desk

"Maks is waiting for you at the third floor. You can just take the elevator to your right and it'll take you directly there"

"Right. Thanks"

Maks? More like the whole cast is waiting for her. Or that's what she speculated until she entered the room.
He was sitting there, one leg crossed over the other with his eyes locked on his phone.
She walked up to him and tapped his shoulder, startling him.

"Meryl. Hey" he got off his seat and hugged her

"Hi! Where are everyone else?"

"They had to stay back for one more tour rehearsal in LA so they couldn't make it in today. On the other hand, you're here so I figured that it wouldn't hurt for the both of us to get in some extra practice considering that we haven't really done any practicing together."

"And she's completely fine with the two us spending the whole day together?" She spitted out the first thing that came across her mind

"Actually she has no knowledge of any of this and I'd rather keep it that way."

She didn't respond. She didn't feel the need to. She put her gym bag down and switched her flats to a pair of dancing shoes. After she finished putting on one of her shoes she looked up at him, who was now back to focusing on his phone

"Maks? I'm just wondering..."

"Hm?"

"Whether you're happy"

He smiled at her without giving any return to the question, but she recognized that smile. The smile that he gives the cameras. The kind that was the opposite of his genuine smile. Yet it wasn't just his smile that gave it away, it was the absent glow in his eyes. Except, why does she care now? She rekindled the fire inside of him once and now he already has someone else to do that.

She finished with her other shoes and made her way to the middle of the room, with Maks following her not long after.

"We have the foxtrot if I'm not wrong?" He asked her, disk in one hand

"Yup"

"And Henry ran you through the choreography?"

"Yeah, but not into much detail. He showed me the where I needed to be in what time but we didn't get to all the added movements since we didn't have the song with us"

"That's great. I wanted to save the song till we got together."

"Oh..."

"Do you want to go over the steps first or do you want to listen to the song before we step on the floor?"

"Could we listen to the song first? I want to know what we're actually occupying ourselves with here"

"Sure princess" he walked and put the disk in the player

Princess. She missed hearing that come out of his mouth. Who was she kidding, she missed him, everything about him.
He returned to the spot next to her after putting on the disk and they both sat down in the middle of the room. She leaned onto his shoulder as the music started playing.

I kissed your sweet lips
I floated so high
Your eyes looked at mine
The world froze in time
What is this feeling?
I am on cloud nine
Guess
I'm still reeling
From your body
Next to mine

I know
You're sleeping
I wish you
Were right here
'Cause my bed's so empty
I'd hold you so close dear
And I sang my song to you
Your smile was priceless
What else can I do?

I'm a junkie over you

It's a rush
I can't explain
Like you shot something
Crazy into my veins
And I'm ten feet
Off the ground
And I don't want
To come down

Is it me
Or is everything spinning
I'm wide awake
But I must be dreaming
It's like
You're some kind of drug
Try to catch my breath
And see
If I'm still breathing
Touch my heart
And make sure
It's beating
It's like
I'm falling in love

It's a rush
I can't explain
Like you shot
Something crazy
Into my veins
And I'm ten feet
Off the ground
And I don't
No I don't
No
Don't want
To come down
Don't want
To come down
Gonna come down

The lyrics to the song caused the walls that were stopping her emotions from exposing to be defenseless. Tears streamed down her face and landed on his fingertips

"What's this?" He asks, his hands sweeping off the tears from her face

"Nothing. It's just... An emotional song I guess"

"You can't cry now. We haven't even made the dance" he lifted her chin up and smiled at her. He stood up and he reached out with one of his arms to pull her up. "Come on babe, I've got a clear idea for the choreography"
