So he was. How did it happen? Was he really a statue, made of marble? Or maybe granite? I mean his face was that of granite wasn't it? I walked a little ways away from the Rikkard Ambrose Statue and looked at him. Yup. Totally looked like a Greek god. I wonder how he did it? I looked at the message again, then flipped it over. It was blank. Except for one sentence.

Lips to his and he'll tell the story.

Wait what? I thought. Lips to his? What does that even mean?

I looked back up at the Ambrose statue then back at the paper.

What do I have to do? I poked his leg again. Still no movement. I clambered onto the pedestal and looked up at his chiseled face. I poked his cheek while staring at his eyes. Those dark, blue-green eyes, now held nothing. They were completely empty, void of life and energy.

Lips on his.

Suddenly it dawned on me. I had to kiss him didn't I? I stared up at his eyes, still holding nothing. No. I dropped my gaze and got off the pedestal. I couldn't do kiss him! We'd never kissed before. Maybe some other girl was the one who was supposed to do this. I started pacing, thinking hard of who would.

"Of course." I said, a little breathlessly. "Ms. Hamilton. She's the only other woman who possibly ever had a romantic interest in Rikkard." I laughed a bit, remembering that night. How amusing it'd been!

I have to kiss him? Kiss this man?! He's a statue? What reaction would I get? Absolutely nothing!

Yet like a magnet, I was drawn to him once more, and I got on the pedestal again, and my arms wrapped around Ambrose's neck. It all happened of their own accord.

Uncontrollably was I pulling myself to him, inch by inch. My mind started to scream. No! Don't! Lillian stop! You are a female who is not brainless and soppy! Fight back! Don't do this!

I did not heed the voice. I was no longer in control of my body. My lips pressed onto his and my eyes closed.

The Ambrose statue moved. My eyes shot open and my arms unlocked from his neck and I nearly fell in surprise. His arm wrapped around waist and made sure that I didn't fall.

"Miss Linton! What are-?"

"Ahh! You're alive? You were a statue just a minute ago!"

"I.. What? I was a what?" His dark, dark eyes finally had life in them and they bore into mine.

"Y-you were a st-atue sir." I stuttered. I was now taking notice of how his body was pressed onto mine. His arm was tight on my waist and my arm was still around his neck.

"I was?" I nodded. "Hmm. Seems peculiar." He looked around. "Why are we in the middle of nowhere?"

"I don't know sir. You were the one who took me away from the ball occuring and told me that we were going to go somewhere important. And here we are." I said. I studied him carefully as he continued looking around the island. He was not aware that he was holding me so close right then. I tried to focus and ask him a new question that popped in my head. "Are you telling me that you don't remember the last hour or so? Nothing at all?" Mr. Ambrose turned his head back towards me.

"Am I supposed to?" He asked.

"No, I guess not. Nothing exciting did happen anyways so it doesn't really matter." I was leaning towards him, slowly but surely.

"Should we get going? Leave this strange island possibly forever?" Ambrose asked. He finally noticed how he was holding me and pulled me in, making my free arm wrap once more around his neck.

Remain calm and also a good distance away. You do not want to kiss him! Let go and go back on the ship!

The suffragist voice was screaming in my head but all I could do was just think about when he and I had been stuck in that crate, and the urge to kiss him... It is almost as strong as it was before. Possibly stronger. I started to lean in when I heard someone call my name in the distance. I turned my head and saw a shadow far away on the ocean...

"Lilly! Lillian! Get up! Get up! You've been sleeping for hours!" I woke with a start.

"Whozdere?" I said, groggily.

"You've been sleeping for hours! It's the afternoon!" it was Ella. Thank goodness.

"Really now? What day is it?"

"Sunday."

Great. No work today. That means that I won't have to see Ambrose today. Whew. That would've been awkward anyways. After that vivid dream, I doubted that I'd be able to properly work. But it'd felt so... Real.

"Okay. I'll be down soon... Or so." I said.

"Lilly, are you alright?" Ella asked softly.

"Yes, of course I am." I said, finally getting out of my bed and stretching. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well you were talking in your sleep. And you look quite pale as well."

"I was? Are you sure that it was me, and not one of our dear sisters?"

"Lilly, I know your voice well. We're sisters! You were talking in your sleep. About... things. Um I think statues and ships or something? Still want to go on an adventure do you?" Ella said with a smile, sitting on my bed. "Besides where were you yesterday?"

I froze as I was walking out of the room, towards the toilet. "Oh. I err..." I was cut off though.

"Ella! Is Lilly awake yet?" It was Aunt Brank, and was I ever so happy to hear that woman's voice.

"Yes, Aunt she is! Shall I tell her to go down?"

"Please do Ella. I'd like to have a word with her." Oh no. That did not sound good.

"Ella no! What have you done?" I whispered. She stared at me, eyes wide.

"Oh no, Lilly I am so sorry! I'll try to fix this... Give me a moment will you?" I nodded and let her go. I myself walked to the toilet and couldn't stop thinking about the dream. I'd never really had anything like them before... Especially not about a man.

"Lilly? I'm afraid Aunt Brank really needs to talk to you about something. She also says that a man had come by to give you a letter as well.." Ella said, at the door.

"Wait a while and I'll come quick." I replied. A letter? For me? Who'd bother to write me a letter, other than Patsy? And Ella said that a man had come by to give the letter as well..? What in the world?

I soon made my way downstairs. I greeted my aunt, and took the letter from the table. I went back to my room to read the letter in private.

Dear Mr. Linton,

You will not come to work starting tomorrow onwards for a month and three days. I will not be around, so there is no point for you to be at the Empire House. And... Here's your paycheck. Use it wisely and of course remember, time is money is knowledge is power.

R. A.

Mr. Ambrose won't be in London? For a month?!
