Blending In

I met a boy from a blended family with a great mom and an excellent step-dad and good siblings.

The boy's father, ten years before had been driven by a friend when neither should have driven, and the boy's dad stayed with the wrecked car and waited. Even though it was not his to do.

But they did not know he would succumb to his injuries, and that boy would lose his father, and the boy's mother would lose the love of her life.

That boy and his mother still share a Big Mac in the cemetery every year on his father's birthday.

Because that's all they have left of that.
