Chapter 16; Why is My Brother So Stupid?

Elaine's POV
After Carlisle and I get reunited I ask him what's been going on with Violet.
He says she's been doing good but that she misses me.
"What's going to happen?"
I whisper, as we lay close together.
He brushes a piece of hair away from my face.
"I have no idea, but whatever does happen, we'll get through it together."
He whispers back.
I nod and scoot even closer to him.
It was weird for me to feel just how cold he is, usually we are the same temperature but not now.
"I know, I just, I hope that it's nothing to bad."
He nods, then we grow silent again.
After a few minutes we get dressed and walk down the stairs,
Bella is sitting on the couch sipping tea and watching the food network.
Carlisle goes outside to take a phone call and I go to sit by Bella.
She smiles at me,
"Are you okay?"
She asks when she sees the cast on my nose.
I nod and look at the television.
"So you can bleed now?"
She says still looking at me,
I shrug,
"It would appear so,"
I whisper.
She is quiet for a moment then starts talking again,
"Do you think you can eat and drink stuff?"
She asks,
I raise an eyebrow,
"I'm not sure. Maybe,"
I look over to her and she's smiling, we both look down at her cup of tea and she hands of to me.
I look at it for minute, not sure if this is a good idea or not.
Finally I decide that it can't really hurt anything.
"Okay,"
I whisper, than I bring the cups to my lips and taste a little.
It tastes okay, I mean I don't really like tea but it didn't taste like it would have if I was a vampire, and the warm liquid going down my throat makes me want more.
She's looking at me with a weary expression.
"How does it taste?"
She asks, I smile,
"I never liked tea, but surprisingly, it tastes okay,"
I answer, she smiles wider and walks to the kitchen.
I look after her confused.
All of a sudden Alice jumps in through an open window.
"I wanna see!!"
I raise an eyebrow,
"See what?"
I ask, she just smirks then looks at my nose,
"Oh My, how long do you have to keep that on?"
She asks,
I look down feeling a little self conscious.
"I have no idea, why is it really that bad?"
I ask,
She shakes her head,
"You look beautiful no matter what mom, besides I don't think your going to have that on for long,"
she says with a smirk.
I smirk back and Bella walks back in with a carton of brownie batter ice cream.
I look up at her smiling wide.
She knows I have always wanted to try this.
"I brought spoons,"
She says holding up two spoons in her hand,
She opens the carton and sets it down on the coffee table in front of us.
I grab a spoon and scoop out a little ice cream.
Alice and her watch with anticipation as I try my first bite.
It's amazing!
"Wow,"
I whisper as I lick the spoon,
"Good wow or bad wow?"
Alice asks,
"Amazingly wow, like so good."
I answer.
Alice smiles and so does Bella,
We hear the front door open and Carlisle walks into the room.
"Sorry about that it was Violet calling me to see how everything is going,"
He explains as he takes a seat next to me.
I smile at her name,
"How is she?"
I ask,
He smiles and says,
"Good, though she says Rose was freaking out earlier and went to go hunt."
I wonder what Rose was freaking out about.
We talk with Carlisle about my ice cream revolution, then we hear a knock on the door.

Bella's POV
I walk to the door and see through the eye hole that Jacob is standing on the steps.
I open the door,
"Hey what are you doing here?"
I murmur.
Him and I aren't on the best terms right now. He may have saved my life but no one talks bad about my family.
"I just wanted to make sure that you are okay,"
He says looking at the ground,
"I thought you couldn't protect me here."
"I guess I don't care anymore,"
He whispers,
I feel my heartbeat pick up,
I smile a little than his face gets serious and I turn around to see Alice, Carlisle and Elaine standing there. He narrows his eyes when he sees Alice and Carlisle but looks concerned when he sees Elaine.
"Lane are you okay? You look different,"
He says in a weary tone.
Elaine nods at him,
"Yeah I'm okay, Jake, how are the Clearwater's doing?"
She asks,
Elaine is always so caring.
I should have asked about Harry but it didn't even cross my mind.
"They're doing as good as a family can do I a situation like this I guess."
Jake says looking down,
She nods,
"Bella can I talk to you for a second? He asks then looks towards the Cullen's,
"Alone," he adds.
I sigh but nod then look over to them,
"We'll give you a second."
Alice says and they all start walking towards the back door,
"Wait Alice your not going anywhere, your gonna come back right?"
I ask suddenly becoming scared.
"As soon as you let the dog out."
She snickers, Elaine laughs but covers it up with a cough.
They all walk out of the house and to the back and I am left to talk to Jake.

Alice's POV
Elaine, Carlisle and I sit by the back of Bella's house.
Elaine gracefully sits on a huge pile of fire wood and Carlisle stands near by her.
I pace back and forth,
"Alice your starting to make me nervous,"
Elaine says after a while.
"Sorry, I just- I can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen, and soon."
I whisper and then my phone rings,
I look to see Rose's name scrolled across the screen.
I was really not in the mood for her negativity,
"Hello?"
I asked, my voice a little on edge.
"Alice- I- Oh God-"
She can barely get a complete sentence out.
"Rose what's going on?"
I ask trying to be calm.
"I- Edward called and he- I told him about Bella- he- he's going to the Volturi!"
She cries.
I hang up right away and race into the house.
Carlisle is right behind me.

Elaine's POV
They both ran into the house on the flash. I walked into the house and heard the end of Alice and Bella's conversation.
"He's going to the Volturi, he thinks your dead so he wants to die too."
She says.
Bella looks over to Jacob who's standing there shaking,
"Wha- Why didn't you let me speak to him?"
She screams.
"He didn't ask for you!"
He yells back,
I push gently through the doorway.
"Jacob maybe you should go, you wouldn't want to loose control,"
I say,
He looks at me and realization reaches his face.
Carlisle pulls me back so that I'm behind him.
"We have to go,"
Alice murmurs.
Bella looks over to Jake with tears in her eyes.
"Sorry Jake."
She whispers voice cracking.
She walks out of the kitchen and up the stairs with Alice to start packing,
Leaving Carlisle and I in the kitchen alone with Jake.
He's gained some control back but still is shaking slightly.
"Jake, go home and calm down,"
I whisper,
He shakes his head,
"You know I can't do that Lane."
As much as I wanted to hate Jacob Black I couldn't. He's never done anything bad to me, I kind of felt bad for him, he keeps loosing Bella right when he thinks he's gained her love.
I sigh then walk out.
I listen in on Carlisle and his conversation.
"Jacob I know it's hard,"
He starts but Jake doesn't want to hear it,
He walks out of the kitchen and out of the front door,
But I know this isn't the last we'll here of Jacob Black.
