More Than A Memory

Chapter 8

Note, sorry for any errors in spelling and grammar, i proofed but I always find errors later, then i fix them becuase it bugs me. Please leave fed back, if i know you like it, I will keep writting :)

They moved Ella out of the ICU first thing in the morning. Everything was stable, the swelling around her spinal cord was still there, and she still coudn't remember anything. She did get over anixous so they ended up sedating her to calm her down.

Now that she was in her own room they had giving Josh a Cot so he could at least lie down and get a little rest. He had called the gang at home to tell them that she had woken up for a few minutes but was disorented. Sara and Ben were going to be there first thing that morning.

Ella opened her eyes slowly, she looked around. Still beeping machines, the light wasn't as bright. She seen the dark haired man asleep on a cot next to her. She lifted her arm and read her ID band. "Stella Marie Carter." she said softly. She furrowed her brow. She tried to strech, but she felt werid, numb almost. "What the hell." she said, she tried to wiggle her toes, nothing happened. She couldn't feel her legs. She started to panic, sending her alarms off. The dark haired man jumped up in a sleepy stupor.

"Sweetheart you need to calm down." he said rushing to her side and taking her hand.

She pulled her hand back. "Who are you?" she asked in a panic. Josh could see fear in her eyes.

"What is wrong?" the nurse asked comig into the room. Ella looked at her.

"Where am I? Who the hell am I? What the hell happened? Why can't I feel my legs." She cried, she was getting really upset.

"Ella you need to calm down." the nurse said silencing the alarms on her monitors.

Josh took her hand again, this time she let him touch her.

"Why can't I feel my legs?" she asked Josh through tears.

"Shhh sweetheart calm down." he said as he reached up and pushed her hair back from her face.

"I am going to paige the doctor." the nurse said leaving the room.

"Who are you?" Ella asked Josh again, still holding his hand.

Josh smiled at her. "You don't remember me?"

"I don't remember anything. Please tell me who I am."

The doctor came through the door before Josh could say anything.

"Hi Ella, I am you doctor. I need to explain some things to you. Would you like Mr. Ramsay to stay while we chat."

Ella looked from the doctor to Josh. She nodded he head yes.

He pulled up a chair by her bed. "You were attacked on the street while you were working, you are a nurse. You were beaten pretty badly and sustained some life threaten injuries. You were in a coma for six weeks. You had some swelling in you head, which affected your memory. You have amnesia, your memory should come back in time. It will take time for you to heal. As for the numbness in your legs, I believe once the swelling resides around you spinal cord it, you should get the feeling back in your legs." The doctor said. "I think you should be able to go home in a few days. I suggest you try to live a normal life and keep things pretty stress free. That will help bring her memory back. Anything that you can do to help jog her memory is good." He said, but directing this to Josh. "You two are married?"

"We are married?" I am married?" Ella said looking at Josh and the doctor.

Josh went to answer but the doctor cut him off. "It is alos good for you not to tell her anything much, other than what you have too. It is better if she remembers on her own. Reminders of the happiest times in her life will help to get the brain working again. So anythign you can do to help Mr Ramsay will be great."
