"Laxus!"

I jumped up on the bed and shook Laxus awake. He let out a loud groan as he buried himself in the sheets.

"Wake up, We have a job today!"

"No we don't..."

"Yeah we do. Fried found one for us."

"...Dammit..."

He sat up and rubbed his tired eyes. They became watery as he yawned exaggeratedly.

"Lets go already!"

I whined, but he just stared at me.

"..."

"What? Is there something on my face?"

"No."

I cocked my head to the side with a questioning look. I wonder what he's thinking. I suddenly felt uneasy as my stomach cramped. The pain distracted my attention from Laxus as I bent over in pain, then I suddenly became alert. Someone was coming toward the house. I turned and immediately recognized the wizard who appeared in front if the door.

"Sister..."

"What are you doing here?"

My twin brother appeared with a glum look. Almost as if he had bad news.

"the council...it's been..."

"What happened?"

The small boy shook his head and pulled my hand, almost begging me to go with him.

"Never mind the explanation...you'll understand once you see it."

I sighed and turned back to Laxus who still looked a bit groggy. He stared for a few seconds before finally standing up and hugging me.

"Fine, you can go, but you're gonna owe me later...."

He paused for a bit, then whispered in my ear so that my brother couldn't hear.

"...Be safe."

"I will..."

I kissed him lightly on the cheek and waved goodbye as my brother teleported me to the council summit, or what was left if it.

"What happened here?!"

I stared in awe at the ruins and the countless bodies. Among those bodies were the members of the council. A frog walked up to me timidly and explained what had happened.

"A-a cat-like person...h-he used some t-type of f-fire magic. Everything...exploded."

"E-exploded? It couldn't be..."

I walked through the rubble looking for clues. Anything that would tell me that I didn't know the attacker.

"It was so long ago...and I was just a child..."
