I squated and jumped. I tucked and rolled like they did in the movies.
The landing didn't hurt that much and it was easy to get up.
I took the cell phone and searched through the contacts. There were very limited choices, but there was the cab company's name. I pressed talk and the I heard music.
Right as i wasput on the line with a representative, there was a honk coming from behind me.
I looked over my shoulder and closed the phone. Was he always there at the right time?
"I heard you need a ride." He smirked,"Get on and we can go back to HQ. Oh, and put on that helmet of yours."
I did as I was told and got on the back of the bike. It was awkward so I didn't put my arms around his waist. I knew if I did that, I would lean on him and get lost in his sent and my daydreams.
"We can't leave until you wrap your arms around my waist." I could hear the smirk in his voice as he spoke.
I hesitated then, I put my arms around his waist. I could feel the muscles under my hands. I had the impulsing urge to sit and trace his abs.
I snapped out of it and put down the protector on my helemet. Good thing this thing was really tinted, or else he would see how red my face is.
It took us about, 30 minutes to get to HQ. The whole time, my muscles were tense and I had to fight the urge to just melt onto him.
We came to a stop in a parking spot and I quickly removed my arms. I took my helmet off and waited for him.
"Do I have cooties or something? Because you pulled away pretty fast." He smiled with his teeth showing slightly.
Wow, what a cocky asshole he was. Man this kid was so full of himself. He must be an only child and was showered with everything.
I glared at him and started walking towards the entrance.
The building itself, was huge. It was really tall and was built to look old. I took in my scenery and saw couples walking dogs and little kids playing at the park across the street. They all looked so happy, and yet I was the only one that wasn't.
I frowned and I felt a hand at the small of my back. I turned to see Oakley with a serious face. His eyes were flooded with concern and pain.
We stared into each other's eyes; time, simply, stood still. I felt that I wasn't being judged, That I could just melt into his arms and learn everything about him. I had feelings overwhelming me. I couldn't take it anymore. I reached up and placed my hand on his cheek. He tensed and after a minute he leaned into my hand.
I felt safe and secure here. I could see the pain leaving his eyes. But the concern still staying strong in his eyes.
He cleared his throat and that's when we both snapped out of it. I snatched my hand from his cheek and looked at the ground. I could feel my face turn red with embarassment.
"Um, should we go?" I turned to see him pointing towards HQ. He was slightly flushed and that made me smile.
"Yeah let's go." We walked with a slight distance from eachother.
We entered the lobby and it was breath taking. There were old paintings and it was made to look like an old vineyard. It was beautiful.
Oakley nodded to the lady at the desk and we kept walking. We hit a hallway with elevators and slid into one. He pressed the very top button and we waited in silence. The elevator had on some annoying music and I felt myself staring at Oakley. He was just so hot and perfect. Not to mention, he was always there when I least expected it. I knew there was a valid reason but the elevator doors opened.
I gasped as we walked out of the elevator. The office was amazing. You could see a hundred different views from all the windows. I smiled a bit and took in the office. There were desks cluttered in a corner and there was a confrence room. Also, there was a giant office. That's when I saw my dad on the other side of the desk.
I walked straight over to the office and knocked. He looked up and smiled; looking way to tired. I walked over to the desk and sat down across from my dad.
"So, working hard?" I tried not to sound nosy.
"Yeah. We are working on a plan to get into the head of the mob. It may take a while so I suggest you go and get all you nessicties." He smiled and looked back down at the paper. I got up and walked out of his office. Just as I was about to leave, he called after me.
"Oh, there's a girl named Sophie. She's been here longer and she will show you around. Oh, and you might need this." He threw a wallet over to me. I said my thanks and left the room.
