Lesson Six

Matthew 6:25-33
"So I tell you, don't worry about the food you need to live. And don't worry about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more important than food. And the body is more important than clothes. Look at the birds in the air. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns. But your Heavenly Father feeds the birds. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds. You can not add any time to your life by worrying about it. And why do you worry about clothes? Look at the flowers in the field. See how they grow. They don't work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that even Solomon with his riches was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers. God clothes the grass in the field like that. The grass is living today, but tomorrow it is thrown into the fire to be burned. So you can be even more sure God will clothes you. Don't have so little faith! Don't worry and say, "What will we eat?" or "What will we drink?" or "What will we wear?"  All the people who don't know God keep trying to get these things.  And your Father in heaven knows that you need them.  The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants.  Then all these other things you need will be given to you."

(Happy Hump Day!). Okay, first what is being said is that our life on Earth doesn't revolve around clothes, food, and money. And that our body isn't all about the clothes that we use to cover it up with.  We are being told not to worry about these essentials for a reason that the second part explains.

In this section of the verses we are given a real life and true example that God cares for his creations the birds, and how they never worry about food and God makes sure they are fed.  Then it is saying that we ARE more important to God and Jesus than birds, EVERYONE! He is saying don't worry, go think and live your life on another things and God will makes sure you are provided with food and drinks.

The next few verses give a similar example saying that the flowers have no worry about how they look and yet their beauty empowers Solomon's greatly.  Then it asks if we have no faith that God will care for us. He wants us to know that he will guide and provide, so if you worry about these things... what does it say about your faith and trust in him?

The very end just states that now since you know God will take care of your essentials and daily needs, make it your priority instead to make sure you have a stable place in heaven by believing and doing what He wants. And maybe inspire and bring others closer to God as well ;).
