Chapter Sixteen.

Duncan wasn't as heavy as I thought he's be, so half carrying, half dragging him home wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Mum and dad were asleep when I got back, but Ben had stayed up waiting for me. He didn't need an explanation when he saw the blood dripping down Duncan's empty face. I set Duncan up comfortably on the fold out bed and then wrote a note explaining where he was so if he woke he wouldn't freak. But when I was in my bed I couldn't sleep. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and called Ian. I needed my best friend right now, no matter what time it was. It dialled and dialled and dialled and then it clicked.

“Hello?” Ian's voice came through groggily. I felt instantly comforted.

“Hey, it's me,” I whispered.

“Angus? What's up?” Ian asked his voice still tired but a little happier.

“I just needed to talk,” I said, scooting back into my blankets and the warm.

“What's wrong?” he didn't sound tired anymore.

“Nothing, I just wanted to hear your voice.”

“Awe, so what's up?” Ian repeated. I laughed and then Ian laughed.

“You're so tired aren't you?”

“Yep...” he droned.

“I'll let you go.”

“No don't go,” he whined.

“It's okay, I'll talk to you tomorrow okay?”

“Okay, night,” Ian whispered. He still sounded sad though.

“Goodnight,” I replied and hung up.
