I walked carefully across the corridor. It was pitch dark but I didn't care an iota. I desperately wanted to leave at all cost. My heart danced furiously against my chest as my legs fled faster than they should.

Enslaved by a monster, I realized dying was easy and desirable for me and living was hard. I accelerated, and just few feet away from the door knob, my voice cracked into a fresh sob because I smelt my freedom. The freedom I have forever been longing for.

As dreadful as it will forever remain, I caught the monster's growl, cunningly meandering its way to my ears. Tears pierced its way from the depth of my mind. Helplessly, I ran farther as the door zoomed ahead of me. Suddenly, the floor started feeling oil-spilled slippery, and I held onto the pendant for protection. All I wanted was Blue, my Blue forever, but he wasn’t there to save me from the monster's merciless claws.

The whispers grew closer and my eyes shut in submission to the worst. I felt it breathing down my neck.

I shrieked in pain.

"Hazel?"

"Hazel?" he shook me awake, his bluest eyes engulfed in care.

My hazel brown eyes flipped open, meeting his gaze. Why am I the vulnerable of all people?

"Are u alright? " the concern in his voice triggered the tears in my eyes. I wrapped my arms around him as he covered my head in a hug.

"Calm down sweet heart, it’s gonna be fine..." he whispered, kissing the very top of my head as I started sobbing breathlessly.

"No... come on... Deep breaths... Good girl... Come on" he ruffled my hair. I clutched him tightly as another tear trickled down my left cheek.

"Wanna talk about it?", Nick asked softly. I shook my head against his chest and he lay his head on mine for a while before gently placing my back against the pillow again. His fingers gently caressed my left temple, whispering right through my heart promising words of support and protection.

I am nothing without my best friend
