I came back inside the house and took a deep breath to compose myself ebfore I walked to the ballroom.

There were still some guests lingering, but most were gone seeing as it was creeping towards the midnight hour.

Mary came up once she spotted me.

"Arabelle, is everything okay?" She asked, looking concerned.

I nodded. "Everything's fine." I reassured her.

"Are you sure? I kind of heard you and Corey..." She implied.

"Did anyone else hear?" I questioned, not wanting my parents to have overheared.

"No. I only did because I went outside looking for you."

I sighed with somewhat of relief.

"Why were you two arguing?"

"It's complicated, and I'm tired." I muttered.

She nodded understandingly, giving me a small smile.

After a little while, everyone had left and the party was officialy over. Thank god, because I was exhausted.

I was standing at the door with Mary, saying goodbye.

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay?" She offered agian.

"I'll be fine." I assured her.

She sighed indaubly. "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye." I called, before closing the door behind her.

I exhaled heavily, finally alone in my own house.

Now I just have to find Corey.

I walked upstairs and checked my room. The room was empty, so I carried on.

I wandered down the hall, checking each room momentarily.  I reached the library and saw him propped on the desk, a small red book in his hands.

"Corey?"  I inquired curiously, stepping into the room.

He didn't look up, turning the page.

"Corey I-I'm sorry." I said. Not that I really did anything wrong but still it's polite.

He didn't reply, but simply closed the book in his hands.

I watched as he set the book down beside him on the desk. "If you're interested in vampires, that's what you should be reading."

I glanced at the title of the old book; "Diables & Vampires".

My eyes flicked up to him. "Why?"

"It's the only unbiased history."

I noded in understanding, taking a step back to sit down in a armchair.

"So, I guess I should apologize." I said, crossing my knees.

"You've already apologized like a dozen times since I've gotten here. I don't think there's any need." He affirmed.

I glanced up at him.

"You're not expecting me to apologize, are you?" He laughed dryly.

"No." I sighed, reaching down to take off my killer heels.

"How was your party? Everything you hoped it to be?" He asked with a sense of humor.

I laughed slightly. "Sure,"

"I'm not big on parties so I think I'll sit the next one out."

"That's perfectly fine."

I rested my head on my hand, glancing down.

"You look tired." He noted, sliding off the desk gracefully.

"I'm exhuasted." I agreed.

"I think it's bed time for the princess." He smiled slightly.

I breathed a laugh, getting to my feet. "Are you going to tell me a bedtime story?"

"Sure," He answered, following behind me as I started out of the room. "I'll tell you the story about how the humans enslaved my species."

"Oh, lovely." I noted sarcastically, walking down the hall.
