After school was over I was still real shaken up from this morning, it's weird I normally don't get bothered so much by those things. Anyway I made my way to the front of the school to find  Mykie where she told me to meet her
I saw her standing on the sidewalk talking to Caleb as usual.
As I was making my way there a small girl, a little taller than Mykie, with blonde hair stopped me.
"Hi!" She greeted enthusiastically.
"Hi, um sorry not now." I waved her off.
"Oh but if I could just talk to you for one moment." She persisted. I sighed in defeat.
"Fine what do you want?" I asked rudely.
"Well you see we are a few members short on the dance committee and-" I raised my hand to make her be quite.
"Let me stop you there, no." I said and began walking over to Mykie.
"Oh but please we need the help." She pleaded.
"No!" I called back.
"Will you at least think about it?" She asked, man this girl does not stop. I finally turned back to face her.
"Fine, whatever will get you to shut up." I said impatiently.
"Rude, but thank you." And she finally left and I turned back around to find Mykie standing right in front of me unintentionally very close but I didn't move back I just looked at her hard expression turn into evil curiosity.
"Why were you talking to her?" Mykie asked her voice rigid.
"She was asking me about some stupid dance thing. Do you know her?" I asked.
"Oh I know her alright." She mumbled to herself still loud enough for me to hear.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh nothing. So is your mom going to pick us up like last time?" She asked.
"No she can't today, our cars brakes are getting fixed and there's some others going on with it too, that's another reason why I was late because I had to run here." I explained.
"Oh so then what are we gonna do?" She asked.
"Well.." I trailed off, then suddenly an idea popped into my head. "Do you like burgers?" I asked.
"What?" She asked confused.
"Come with me." I then took her wrist and pulled her along side me.
"Woah hey where are we going?" She asked annoyed.
"You'll see." I said.

When we arrived at our destination Mykie became very confused.
"What is this place?" She asked.
"Only the best dinner ever, the great "Remy's" dinner." I said with a fanfare.
"Huh?" Mykie said confused. "I've never seen this place in town before and how do you know about this place I thought you transferred here from Great Oak which is several miles from here." She said.
"Well before me and my family moved to Great Oak we used to live hear when I was really young and we would come hear every Saturday. But after my dad died we didn't come as often, it didn't feel right to go without him. Then we moved and well you know." I explained.
"Oh ok." She said.
"Well shall we go in." Me and Mykie headed into the dinner and we were greeted by the familiar sent of fresh fries and burgers along with the same old stale cold peppermint smell that made its way through the vents. Mykie began to walk towards an empty table in the middle of several others but I caught her arm before she walked any further.
"What now?" She said impatiently.
"Not there come with me." I then escorted her to a booth in the far corner of the diner.
"Why here?" She asked.
"This was where me and my family would always sit when we came here." I told her and she nodded in understanding. We took our seats and not long after a sweet looking lady made her way to our table, could it be?
"And what will you be having today?" The lady asked us in a sweet southern accent.
"I will have the double bacon and fried onion burger with a large Dr. Pepper and banana strawberry milkshake with whip cream and don't forget the cherry." I stated off my usual order by heart.
"Why I haven't had anyone order so much in awhile." She teased.
"I'm a growing boy what do you expect." I said causing the lady to shoot her head up from her notepad and stare directly at me.
"Bless my soul Daniel is that you?" She asked with the biggest grin.
"In the flesh, hello Gladice." I said.
"Oh my Daniel I haven't seen you 3 years how have you been?" She asked.
"Four and I'm good how about you I see your still working at the diner." I said
"Yes sir but I could never leave, this place is my home and I am so happy your back, oh and who is this?" She asked gestures get to Mykie who had almost forgotten.
"Oh Gladice this is-" I was about to introduce her but she beat me to it.
"I'm Mykie Daniels friend." She introduced herself and held out a hand to Gladice. Wait did she just say friend since when did that happen.
"Oh well it is very nice to meet you." Gladice said taking Mykie's hand then letting go.
"You too." Mykie said.
"Well then now that we're all introduced what can I get you miss?" Gladice asked Mykie.
"Well I would also like the double bacon and fried onion burger no, make that two with a side of fries a large Coke and I would also like a banana strawberry milkshake with extra whip cream and two cherries." She finished ordering and I was surprised at how much she ordered.
"Are you sure you'll be able to eat all that?" I smirked.
"Shut up." She said.
"Well then I'll be right back with your food oh and Daniel." Gladice said.
"Yes?"I said.
"She's a keeper." And with that she went off to get out food and I looked over to find Mykie blushing. Damnet Gladice really. I cleared my throat and took a sip out of the water already at the table Mykie did the same it became surprisingly hot all of a sudden.

Once our food got to the table me and Mykie immediately began to devour everything we ordered. And despite the fact that Mykie ordered more food she still ate it tens times as fast as I did.
"Damn who knew such a small girl could put away so much food." I teased.
"Hey I'm not that short." She protested.
"Oh I'm sorry how tall are you." I egged on.
"5'3" she mumbled.
"I'm sorry I couldn't quite hear that would you mind saying it again." I said.
"5'3" she said louder this time.
"Oh so that would make me a foot taller than you." I said holding my hand over her head. She tried to slap it away but I was to quick and moved out of the way before she could.
"Shrimp." I teased.
"What did you say?" She asked annoyed.
"You-are-a-shrimp." I said every syllable very slowly as if she couldn't understand. She leaped forward and tried to hit me but I moved out of the way, she tried again and again then... BAM! She hit me straight across my head.
"Ow! What the hell!" I exclaimed.
"Hey you had it coming to ya." She smirked.
"Ya I guess that's true." I agreed. We then got out of the booth and headed to the front to pay.
"It was nice seeing you again Daniel." Gladice said.
"You too see ya later." And me and Mykie headed out. Once we got outside Mykie took off her backpack and set it down. She then opened it up and pulled out a what looked like a skateboard but it was smaller.
"You penny board?" I asked.
"Ya and?" She asked almost expecting that I was going to say something.
"Nothing just curious." I said, then she zipped up her backpack put it back on and stepped onto the penny board.
"Hey um we stayed here longer than I thought and it's getting late maybe we could study some other time." She said.
"Um ya sure." I agreed she was right we did stay a lot longer than we thought but oh well.
"See you then." I waved.
"Ya see ya." She waved back and began to skate away. I turned the other way and began to walk home but I only made it ten steps before I heard a loud crash. I turned to find Mykie lying on the ground and holding her ankle. I ran up to see what happened.
"Mykie you okay?" I asked worriedly.
"No." She said in pain.
"How did you fall?" I asked as I knelt down to help her up.
"Some of the loose weeds from the bush got caught in my wheel I guess," she pointed to a bush next to the side walk. "And I tripped I tried to catch myself but I couldn't and I twisted my ankle when I fell." She explained.
"Can you stand?" I asked.
"I think so." She tried to get up but once she put pressure on her ankle she cried out in pain and fell back but I caught her.
"No you can't here let me help you." I said.
"No I'm fine." She protested but I didn't listen, instead I took her backpack and slung over my shoulder along with mine the I bent down and placed one of my arms under her knees and the other around her back and picked her up. Instinctively she wrapped her arms around my neck.
"What are you doing I said I'm fine." She kept protesting.
"No you're not you can barely walk and I'm going to help you weather you want it or not." I said and I began to walk to my house.
