Together (a rex and ashoka love story)

I Promise...

After a devastating battle on Geonosis, Ashoka is left to deal with all the deaths of her men. She also has to deal with the death of someone very dear to her. What will happen? Will someone important die? Read and find out! 

Ashoka's POV

They were on the gunships ready for the third battle of Geonosis. They had 35,000 men and a few thousand gunships. They were nearing the planets atmosphere. "Rex....Promise me you will be careful, We have been here before and lost thousands and i just want to make sure that doesn't happen again okay?" Ashoka asked Rex who was standing next to her, "I Promise littl'un" Rex said with a wink. So the gunships landed and the geonosins were already waiting for them, They were outnumbered 35,000 to 50,000. And so the battle begun Ashoka, Rex, Anakin and every clone rushed into battle. Ashoka tried staying close to her master or Rex, But they were scattered everywhere, 5 Geonosins went after Rex all at once "Gahhh! Die you worthless bug creeps!" Rex yelled as he shot them all down with his duel pistols. Anakin was cutting down Geonisins right and left the same for Ashoka. Echo, Fives, Hardcase, Jesse and kix stuck together and killed the bug people by the dozens. The other men shot down as many Geonisins down as possible. Ashoka was nearing the center of the battle field when she heard her master call out "Ashoka, Help!" As he was being surrounded by the enemy, "I'm Coming master!" She yelled in reply, Ashoka rushed over to Anakin and took out all the Geonosins, "Gah!" Rex yelled as he was shot in the arm, But he kept fighting. The battle was nearing an end whan Ashoka with in the middle of it all, The last thing she felt was a gun stock to the head< And with that she was knocked out cold. *4 Hours later* "Ashoka..Ashoka!" Anakin yelled worriedly, "I'm Here master!" She said sitting up and looking around to see all the dead. 25,000 clones, 50,000 Geonisins. "The battles over?" Ashoka asked sounding confused, "Yeah..we won...you got knocked out during the middle of it." Anakin informed her, "Where's Rex?" Ashoka asked sounding worried, "Haven't seen him....go ask Fives or Echo" Anakin shrugged. Ashoka made her way over to Fives and Echo who were helping Kix with the wounded, "Fives, Echo...either of you two seen Rex?" Ashoka asked worriedly, "Nope.." Echo shrugged "I think i saw him over there towards the end of the battle" Fives said while pointing to a rock. Ashoka hurried over to that area and when she got there she was horrified. "Rex!" She said tears welling up in her eyes when she saw him lying on the ground three bullets in his chest, Breathing heavily and hard, Blood everywhere. "Rex..Rex!" Ashoka said while shaking him, "S..soka" he said weakly sitting up slightly looking into her eyes, "I'm here Rex..I'm Here...What happened?' Ashoka asked, "I guess i tried being a hero and got myself into this mess...." Rex said "Don't worry i'll get Kix and it will all be okay" Ashoka said starting to get up but Rex held her arm so she couldn't leave. "Ashoka..It's to late for me.." Rex said looking into her eyes, "Never say that Rex! You will be fine!" Ashoka said starting to cry and she knelt down next to him and held his hand. "Ashoka....It's too late...*Cough cough* I'm not gonna make it.." Rex said a tear falling down his face as he put Ashokas hand to his face, "Rex! No!" Ashoka said crying. "Ashoka..I need you to do something for me.." Rex said "Anything.." Ashoka said looking him in the eyes, "I need you to promise me you will pass on my story....Promise you'll tell it to the cadets and younglings.." Rex said quietly "Okay...i promise.." Ashoka said Teary eyed, "One more thing...Promise..to..remember me..." Rex said as another tear fell down his face, "I Promise" Ashoka replied crying as she held his hand and whispered " I love you Rex" "I love you too littl'un" Rex replied weakly and quietly Their eyes still locked, Then Ashoka noticed his breathing stopped and his eyes went cold and dark. "Rex! No! no no no...Rex come back to me! Rex no..Rex i need you here...Rex?...Rex...no.." Ashoka cried as she held his cold hand to her face and softly kissed his lips one last time. "I love you....and i always will....i promise to remember you always.." She said quietly. " Ashoka!...oh no..." Anakin said as he walked over to her, "I'm Sorry Ashoka...But we need to go..." Anakin said as he put his hand on her shoulder, "What!? No! i will not leave him here like this!!" Ashoka cried out as she stood up and took his hand off her. "Ashoka..Now!" Anakin yelled, Ashoka stormed off crying towards the gunships. They were on the flight home when Fives went over to where Ashoka was on her knees crying, "Ashoka..I'm Sorry...Rex loved you very much" Fives said to her quietly, Ashoka hugged him tightly, "It will be okay" Fives told her. As Ashoka cried on her knees she felt a warm hand on her shoulder, She looked up and saw nothing But she still felt it...The hand was warm and gentle like Rex's. "Rex..." Ashoka breathed out. When the ships landed, Ashoka headed to the temple to give her report and she was clearly fighting back tears when Obi-wan asked "Where is Captain Rex?" "He....Passed.." Ashoka replied her voice filled with sadness and she choked back tears. After she gave her report she ran back to the barracks to see Anakin cleaning out Rex's room. "What are you doing!?" Ashoka yelled "Cleaning out the captains old room" Anakin replied, "No! Leave it all! GO!" Ashoka yelled and anakin left. Ashoka walked into Rex's room and looked around at all the marking around the room, Numbers,The books lying on the ground, Old armor and guns. She walked to the bed and looked at their photo album,Best memories, The 501st Pranks and good times. Ashoka Cried as she saw the picture of her and him hugging on her birthday, "Rex...I miss you so much..Why did you have to go?" Ashoka said quietly to herself, "I'm Still here littl'un...Always will be" She heard a voice say, "Rex?" She asked outloud...No reply, "I miss you..." She said as she cried again clutching his picture close to her heart. Fives and Cody walked in and saw her, "Ashoka...Are you gonna be okay?" Fives asked concerned, "I-Miss-him-so-much" Ashoka said through sobs "He held my hand when i saw scared, Wiped away my tears, and held me close and hugged me...I..I can't be without him Fives...It hurts so much, I can feel my heart breaking into pieces.." Ashoka said as more and more tears fell from her eyes, "It will be okay Ashoka...It'll get better.." Cody reassured her, "You don't understand Cody..He was the only man i ever loved...and now he's...gone forever.." Ashoka said crying. Cody and Fives comforted her for a while then headed to their own rooms, Ashoka fell asleep in Rex's room on his bed, She held the picture of him close to her heart, She couldn't help but feel he was still there stroking her lekku, Telling her it would be okay, That things would get better. She cried herself to sleep the image of Rex carved into her mind, The way he laughed, The way he Smiled and winked at her, His warmth, His touch,His voice, His Soft lips, His smell, Ashoka wore one of his shirts so she could feel closer to him. Then she heard a voice say "Sleep well littl'un...It will be okay" Ashoka swore it was Rex's voice again, She cried. Then she finally fell asleep. When she awoke she was on the floor of the Jedi temple sparring room, She wasn't wearing Rex's shirt, She had no picture of him in her hands, But she was sweaty and had tears running down her face. "Rex!" She said out loud as she ran out the door and through the halls. She ran into Anakin on her way towards the door, "Whoa..Snips where are you going?" Anakin Asked her "I...Rex..Battle...I need to get to Rex!" She blurted out, Then she got away from him and ran out the door through the rain and to the clone barracks. She opened the door and ran to Rex's quarters, She knocked on the door....No answer....She knocked again and she heard footsteps, And Rex opened the door! "Rex!" She yelled jumping into his arms wrapping her arms around him and pulling him into a tight hig, "Whoa...What is with you?" He asked sounding very confused, "I'm SO glad your okay" She said quietly as he put his arms around her. "Why are you all sweaty?" He asked as they pulled away from eachother, "I..I had a bad dream.." She said as another tear fell from her eye, "Have you been crying? what's wrong?" Rex asked sounding very concerned, He led her over to the bed and sat her down and sat next to her. "Okay..What happened?" Rex asked her, "I had a dream we had a third battle on geonosis, And you...died...And i promised to remember you and to pass on your story....i'm sorry this is childish and stupid...." Ashoka said starting to get up but Rex held her hand so she couldn't leave, "It's not childish or stupid Ashoka...Stay here with me...Please?" Rex said, Ashoka sat back down, "Rex..I need you to promise me something" "What?" "Promise to never leave me..." Ashoka said while looking down, Rex lifted her chin with his gentle touch and leaned in and kissed her. "I promise" He replied and kissed her again.
