Chapter Twelve

Chapter Twelve – Alex's P.O.V

"Shall we take Demi's breakfast up to her then?" I asked Mac.

"Okay." She replied before she jumped off my lap and waited for me to dish Demi up some food. I hoped she would eat the food this time. She hadn't really been eating that much for the last few weeks and last night I woke up to the sound of Demi being sick in the toilet. It worried and concerned me a little bit

I picked the plate up as Mackenzie ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs. She knocked on mine and Demi's bedroom door and waited for Demi to answer before she went inside. "Come in." A very sleepy Demi said a minute later. Mackenzie opened the door and ran towards her. She climbed onto the bed before she climbed on top of Demi. "Morning Demi." Mac said to Demi

"Morning honey." Demi smiled before she kissed Mac on the forehead. Demi wrapped her arms around Mackenzie's stomach

"We brought you food." Mackenzie told her as she looked at me

Demi's face fell for a second before she forced a smile on her face. She thanked us before she placed the plate on her bedside table. "Aren't you going to eat it Demi?" Mackenzie asked Demi

"I will in a minute. Shall we go and get you dressed first?" Demi replied to her, trying to distract her. I stepped in a minute later

"I can get Mackenzie ready. You need to eat." I told her sternly

"I'm not hungry Alex." Demi replied to me. I noticed something in her eyes. Worry and concern maybe? I sat down beside Mac

"Mackenzie why don't you go and play in your room for a minute?" I suggested to her. Mackenzie nodded her head before she jumped off the bed and ran out of the room. Demi looked at me.

"I'm honestly not hungry Alex." She told me as soon as Mac was out of earshot.

"I don't care. You need to eat Demi." I replied to her. She looked at me frustrated.

"Just leave it Alex." She snapped at me before she rolled over.

"Leave it Demi? No. I'm not going to leave it. You haven't been eating that much for days. Last night I heard you throwing up in the toilet Demi. So I'm not going to fucking leave it." I yelled

Demi looked as if she was about to say something before she pulled a disgusted look. A minute later she jumped out of bed and ran towards our bathroom. I ran after her a second later and as soon as I reached the bathroom I saw Demi on her knees throwing up into the toilet. I went over to her and pulled her hair back.

She looked up at me a few minutes later. Her skin was pale white and she was shaking. I pulled her onto my lap a second later. Demi snuggled into me as she wrapped her arms around my stomach. "I didn't make myself sick last night Alex. I promise you." She told me as she looked up at me. I didn't say anything, I just held her close for another few minutes until she pulled away from me again. She knelt in front of the toilet and started throwing up once again. I pulled her hair back again making sure her hair didn't end up in the toilet with her vomit

"Demi did you start being sick last night?" I asked her. Demi shook her head.

"I've been throwing up for the last few weeks." She told me as she snuggled into me again.

The room fell silent for a minute until I spoke up again breaking the silence.

"Demi. When's the last time you had your period?" I asked her as she pulled away from me.

"Last month." She said as she looked at me. I sighed in relief until I realised it was the first of may.

"So your last period was April?" I asked her, double checking with her.

"No. It was March. It's still April Alex." Demi replied to me.

"Demi it's the first today." Demi looked at me with anxiety in her eyes.

"I think we should probably buy a pregnancy test Demi." I continued.

(An hour later)

Mackenzie and Dallas waved goodbye before they went out the door. Mackenzie was spending time with Dallas this morning while Alex and I went to the shop. If I was pregnant we wanted to have time to process everything before we told Mackenzie about it.

"Are you ready to go?" Alex asked me as he came into the room

I nodded my head at him nervously. Alex noticed my anxiety and pulled me into a hug before he kissed my forehead. "Hey it's going to be okay. If you are pregnant, then we are going to deal with this together. Alright?" Alex asked me as he looked at me.

"You're not going to leave?" I asked him. Alex shook his head at me.

"I won't leave. I promise. You know that if I'd found out about Mackenzie when Lauren was pregnant I would have still made an effort to be around for Mackenzie's sake." Alex reminded me.

"I know. Now can we go? I kind of want to get this over and done with."

Alex nodded before he grabbed hold of my hand and squeezed it. We went outside and travelled towards the car. We both got in before Alex started the car and pulled away from the house

(20 Minutes later)

We arrived home twenty minutes later. I picked the bag up before I opened the car door and slammed it shut. Alex followed from behind. We were both silent as we entered the house and took our shoes off.

"I'll go and take the test now." I told Alex breaking the silence.

Alex nodded his head. "I'll be up in a little bit. Okay?" He asked.

"Okay." I replied before I went upstairs and walked into the bathroom. I shut the door behind me before I slid down the wall and took a couple of deep breaths.

Okay Demi. You can do this. I told myself as I took the test out of the bag and followed the instructions. I set a timer for five minutes and nervously waited for the results. Alex knocked on the door five minutes later. I opened the door and let him in before I looked down at the test on the floor. My heart skipped a beat as soon as I saw the result.

I was pregnant.
