Chapter 10

"I still can't believe you didn't tell us!"
"Will you please drop the matter? It has been three years." A deep bored voice drawled out to the previous voice that had sounded extremely annoyed.
"No I will not Uchiha! How dare you guys! I wish I could strangle you right here and now." The first voice exclaimed, clothes ruffling as if the person was moving around in an almost agitated manner. The person was growling at the other one who just regarded them boredly. "I would appreciate it if you do not strangle my man, Konan." A new voice joined in and the sound of chair scraping against the floor could be heard followed by the softest thud, if you listen carefully.
"But you guys are rude! Absolutely rudeeeeeee." Konan said, pouting slightly and dragging out the last word to emphasise her point as she glared at the couple.
"It has been three years since we told you all. You guys found out we were dating the next day while all of us were trying to organise ourselves here." Naruto said, still reading the documents in hand. Itachi almost glared at the document but refrained himself from yanking the documents from her to make out with her. Konan was glaring at the documents now with a passion. They all hated how much time she spent going through the paperwork and never took a break, only when forced. She also reads every single document so carefully they were surprise she hasn't been able to recite the documents word for word in her sleep.
"You still kept us in the dark for half a year, un! HALF. A. FREAKING. YEAR. UN!" A blond haired man said, punctuating each repeated word for effect and emphasis. Naruto and Itachi sighed. They have had this conversation every few months when someone just has to bring it up. This time it was Konan. The last time had been Deidara and the time before was Kisame and Hidan, the one before the two was Konan again along with Tobi who revealed himself to be Obito Uchiha - a cousin of Itachi. He only revealed himself after he had a private chat with Naruto during tea time. The other just didn't want to bother the couple so much, seeing as the others were already doing it.
Kisame walked past casually and snatched the papers from Naruto's grasp, earning an annoyed 'Hey!' Before he set down a cup on the glass table with a clank. It was a silent message to tell her to take a break and relax. Once Naruto picked up the tea cup and took a sip, making no attempt to try get the papers back, Kisame placed the papers on the table and went to sit down. They were all dressed in their own ninja outfit but the standard black cloak with a red swirl on its back and red flames at the base hung on each of their shoulders, held together with a pin that had the village sign - the Uzumaki swirl. The cloak was some sort of a uniform for them but some that wore that off duty was because of its comfort, and for Naruto, it was for its hood that hid most of her features. Their headbands also had the same swirl engraved into it.
Itachi was absently fingering a strand of long hair that had spilled onto his side of the table, draping over his arm. Naruto didn't mind as Itachi started making an elaborate braid on a section of the hair and in the middle of nowhere, he didn't start from the roots of her hair nor did he start close to the end of the hair - it was kinda in the middle but not really. Oh well! You get what I mean. Naruto had chose to tie her hair up into a pony tail today, as high as she could manage because her hair had reached her butt and Itachi insisted she not cut it too short so Konan would occasionally trim it to keep it that length.
Naruto jerked up when she felt chakra signatures heading their way. It hadn't penetrated the barrier yet, hence the rest way the rest hadn't felt it yet. "What's wrong?"
"Chakra signatures... 15 of them. They feel very... Oh my kami."
"What? They feel very what?" Kisame asked, sitting forward and getting ready to spring into action.
"Familiar. Konoha shinobis, they are the my year level."
"You mean like Sasuke and stuff?" Itachi asked, shifting slightly. The news that akatsuki have been disbanded has spread and they were all no longer missing nins thanks to Naruto. She had agreed to take the missing nins in from their home town, in exchange that the village remove them from their records hence they no longer belong to the village nor are they a ninja of the village. Naruto had snuck two documents into Konoha and the hokage just signed without looking too carefully. Foolish woman. She just signed a document that severed all of Itachi's and her ties with Konoha. They were no longer a citizen or ninja of Konoha hence hold no obligation to obey the country.
"Let's go meet them 'Tachi." Naruto said firmly as she stood up, she pulled up the fabric that gathered around her neck to cover her mouth and nose then tugged her hood onto her head, effectively covering herself from head to toe. You can't even tell her gender unless she spoke or if she is cunning, she could just disguise her voice as well. "I wonder how they are..."
