Third Person POV

With eyes burnt red and skin drowned in a mask of tears, Shawn unbuttoned his black coat, the piercing cold of the snow sneaking in through the cracks of the empty house causing goosebumps to play along his thin arms. He threw his coat on to the arm of the couch, running his bony fingers through his knotted hair before harshly pulling and tugging on to it as he cried out in frustration; tears racing down his cheek onto his jaw.

Shawn crawled over the glass table, leaning his tired back against the foot of the couch, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hands. He stared at the pictures in front of him, sliding his hand across the frames before they fell like dominoes, bits of glass falling beside him. "Why?!" He yelled out. His eyes locked on to the girl smiling in the picture--the picture behind the shattered glass. "Fuck! Why?!"

Shuffling. He heard shuffling. "Baby?" He heard it. He swore he heard the word, but he was alone. Shawn looked up, seeing nothing but the darkness of his home. "Shawn?" He slowly stood up, clenching on to a piece of glass despite the cut it was causing.

"Hello?" Shawn whispered, the pain of his dry throat hurting him as he spoke. His wrist ached as he lifted himself up, trudging over to the hallway. He spoke again, "Hello?"

"Shawn?" He jerked, startled. "Shawn? Can you hear me?"

His hands reached for the doorknob, twisting and pushing. Before the door could open, a voice spoke out. "You can hear me, Shawn?"

He turned in an instant reaction, seeing the girl he loves in front of him. Dried blood rested along her right temple, along with some on her bare shoulders. However, Shawn's chapped lips laid parted, staring at her with a hard gaze, trying to find out if it had been real.

"Shawn?" She whispered. "Can you see me?"

He nodded slowly, stiffening as she walked closer. "_____." Shawn whispered back.

She cupped her mouth, tears spilling out of her eyes like a cup being overfilled. "Why can't anyone hear me, Shawn? Why can't anyone see me? What happened to me?"

Shawn took chopped breaths, chest rising up and down as he shook his head. "This isn't real. You aren't alive."

She took a step forward, leaving Shawn in shock as he felt her hand brush past against his. "I'm not alive?" She croaked, voice cracking against  her tears.

Shawn let go of the piece of glass, hand coated in blood as he reached for her hand with his clean hand. He felt her. He felt her hand in his. "Shawn?" She spoke softly, tears still running down her cheek. "I'm scared."

Shawn pulled her in, embracing her as he ran his hands in her hair, taking a breath of relief as he felt the reality. "You were dead."

Her breathing seemed to stop as she shook her head. "No..."

He pulled away, nodding as tears rested on his cheekbones. "You died in a car accident, _____."

Her hand clenched onto Shawn's, knuckles turning white as her lifeless hand remained motionless.

"You died _____. You aren't real."

"No, no, no, Shawn," She rambled as she brought his hand up to her chest, trying to find a heartbeat that wasn't there. "No..."

He sucked in a breath. "I missed you, baby."

"Shawn, please...It hurts."

He kissed her forehead, mumbling an "I'm sorry", and with a short blink of his eye, she was gone.

"_____?" He called out, running through the hallway and into the living room as he called out once more. "_____?! Please! _____, come back!"

The wind howled against the walls of the room. She was gone.
