Chapter 12:

“Mumma!” Nate cried at me from his room. I had only recently moved him back in there, as I was cautious of anyone taking him again. Nathan had stayed in my room for a couple of weeks whilst Noah and Flynn had both come and fixed up the house, arguing with each other over the smallest of things.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed and as I stood up, I had to grab onto something to hold. A wave of nausea rushed over me, but went quickly leaving me feeling dizzy.

“I’ll get him Rose.” A male voice called out to me from the hallway outside of my room. I stood in confusion, but got up and ran over to Nate’s bedroom to see Noah with Nathan in his arms, Nate’s head resting on his shoulder.

“What are you doing here?” I questioned Noah, my body slumped up against the doorframe. He was rubbing Nate’s back soothingly, as his son whimpered into his shoulder.

“You asked me to stay last night.” He replied smoothly, just shrugging his shoulders as if me asking my ex-boyfriend to stay the night was no problem at all.

“I don’t remember asking you to stay!” I walked towards him and reached out to take Nathan from his arms.

“No Mumma!” Nathan whined, turning his body away from me. I rested my hands on my hips and messed up his beautiful brown hair, before turning back to Noah. I glared at him, waiting for him to answer me truthfully, but he didn’t. Instead, he smirked at me and walked past me, his body brushing against mine. Tingles ran down my arms, causing me to shiver.

“I’ll just go and make Nathan’s breakfast.” He told me, and I just looked at his back as he walked down the stairs on the way to the kitchen.

I went back into my room and took a shower, before wandering down into the kitchen and just sat at the table next to Nathan, as my son happily ate his pancakes. Noah was stood behind the counter, chopping up some fruit and putting it into a small bowl, before covering it all in some plain yoghurt.

“This might make you feel a bit better.” He told me, as he placed the bowl on the table in front of me. He took the seat opposite of Nathan and myself and started to read the newspaper, whilst munching on some toast.

“Is that yummy Bubba?” I asked Nate, as I chopped up his pancakes into smaller bites for him. He nodded back at me, his mouth full of food. I chuckled lightly, but had to quickly stand up and run to the bathroom, nausea rushing over me.

“Are you alright?” Noah said from behind me. I flushed the chain and washed my mouth out with mouthwash. One of his hands were holding my hair, whilst the other rubbed my back.

“Yeah, I’m uh, fine. I ate some chicken the other day, and I thought it tasted funny. I guess I’ve got food poisoning.” I decided. I walked out of the bathroom and went over to Nathan, who was struggling to wriggle out of his booster. “Finish your breakfast baby, and then Mummy will let you out.” He quickly gobbled up his food and then held out his arms to Noah. Hurt filled my insides, as I tried to not show it on the outside.
