Chapter 21:

Rose’s POV:

I felt so exhausted, my body too heavy for me to move. I slowly opened my eyes, but immediately shut them, feeling blinded from the bright light filling in. A deep groan sounded from next to me, causing me to freeze; I wasn’t alone.

“Mumma?” The voice sounded like it belonged to Nate, and I knew it was when his little hand reached out and patted my arm.

“Nate, careful…” Someone said to him. I shifted on the bed, feeling extremely uncomfortable. “Hey, hey, you all right?” the voice asked. I carefully opened my eyes, and turned my head to look to see whom the voice came from.

“Noah?” I whispered, completely shocked when I noticed him sat on the plastic chair next to the bed I was laid on. He gave me a small smile, his blue eyes sparkling as he looked at me. “Where am I?” I asked him as I looked around the white room.

“You’re in hospital Rose, you fell when you were interviewing me. Doctors say you became extremely stressed and the baby didn’t like it; you fainted.” He told me, before picking Nathan up and placing him on his knee.

“But…you? Uh…” I mumbled, completely confused as to why he was here with me, considering he didn’t know who I was not that long ago.

“Everyone explained everything to me. Absolutely everything. Also, our little boy here is like a copy of the younger me, so I couldn’t not believe he was mine.” Noah said ‘our little boy’! That itself made my heart give a little jump.

“Are you starting to remember things?” I asked him as Noah pressed the nurse’s button on the wall by my bed.

“Little bits. It’s all coming together, you know? Something will trigger a memory and then it will all come back to me- like you! When I first saw you on this bed a couple of days ago, I remembered what we had when we first met! I remember it all so, so clearly now!” He told me, bouncing Nate up and down on his knees, our son giggling hysterically.

“Hello dear. Ah, you are already looking a lot better.” A nurse said as she walked into the room, checking everything that was plugged into me and monitoring me. “And you are. We’ll just have to keep you here for a little longer to monitor the baby, and then you can go home with your adorable family who have not stopped worrying about you for the past couple of days.” She said, messing up Nate’s hair before walking out of the room with some information from my pack on the door.

I tried sitting up, gripping the sides of the bed sheet and pulling me up to rest my back against the bed railings.

“Hey, careful, let me help.” Noah said as he stood Nate up. He took my hand in his and placed the other one behind my back, and he slowly pulled me up into a more comfortable position, like I was sitting.

“Mumma! I wanna come sit wit you!” Nathan said as he climbed onto the bed and snuggled in next to me. I pulled him into a cuddle, kissing the top of his head.

“Thank you Noah.” Noah looked up at me, confused. “Thank you for what you’ve done, accepting us into your lives again- you really don’t know how much that means to us.” I told him, before looking down at Nate again, meeting his big, blue eyes that were gazing up at me.
