27th July

I was due any day now.

The last few weeks had been filled with major preparations for two very important events in my life; the first my first pregnancy, the birth of my child, and the second, the wedding of my two best friends.

That’s how at midday on the 27th of July, Harry, Ron, George and I were found stood in the middle of the Weasley’s large back garden as Harry worried over any last minute problems.

“Have you checked the cake?” Harry asked for the third time that day and I forced myself not to yell at him, instead I smiled and patted his arm comfortingly and I led him towards the front door of the Weasley’s house.

“Go get ready Harry,” I ordered giving him a shove in the right direction, “Everything’s sorted out here.”

“Thanks Hermione.” He pressed a light kiss on my forehead in thanks before backing into the house and through into the back rooms rather than up the stairs to where Ginny was preparing for her big day.

A hand slid around my waist and I turned to press my lips against George’s soft lips. He pulled away and rested his head against mine and, for a moment, we both just looked into each other’s eyes happily.

We had been dating for the last few months, ever since that night I had never seen Draco again so I had moved on. George was the perfect guy, he was funny and sweet and he respected me completely, plus he had agreed to help me raise my child even if it was from another man.

“Hermione! Hermione!” Yasmin came crashing down the stairs and out of the front door, straight into us. “Ginny desperately needs your help!”

Before I could even ask what was wrong, Yasmin was sprinting back up the stairs leaving me and George stood in the doorway of the house. I looked at him and he smiled at me reassuringly.

“Go save the day,” He prompted me, “I’ll be waiting when you get back.”

“I love you.” I murmured kissing him softly.

“I love you too.” He dropped my hand and I pulled away before making my way up the stairs and into Ginny’s room. She was stood in the middle of the room, clutching the straying fabrics of the dress with Yasmin stood beside her, rubbing her hand up and down her arm.

“It’ll be okay Ginny, Hermione’s coming.”

“What’s wrong?” I gushed stampeding into the room and pulling her into a hug. Yasmin stood awkwardly to one side, despite no one knowing her secret but us she still felt left out occasionally and although we had all forgiven her there was no denying that we still all had favourites in our friends group and as Ginny clung to me, I felt sad for her.

Pulling away I held her face with my hands before crouching down to look up at her.

“Nothing is going right Mione, my dress is ripped, and my hair’s not working!” I pulled her into another hug quenching her words. I tried not to show how much the nickname hurt me; George had tried for a while calling me it but eventually stopped when he saw how much the nickname reminded me of Draco.

Ginny, however, with Ginny I let it slide.

“Sit down.” I ordered her. She took a seat on the corner of her bed and I settled down beside her. I repaired her dress using magic before picking up a brush and the braids of flowers from the bed side table. Then I slipped my fingers into her hair and began to weave; over and under, went her long locks of hair and the flowers got entwined in it.
