"She's back!" Aaron yelled from the wall, making everyone look up to him. "She's back!" He repeated before heading towards the gate.
"Who's back?" Rick asked, standing up with everyone else as they made their way to the gate Aaron was at. Michonne only shrugged and Daryl grumbled, just as Carl ran up next to them with Judith in his arms.
"I overheard Aiden and Deanna talking about some girl and that she hasn't been back yet from searching. Don't know who it is or what their looking for."
"Well let's go seem em." Daryl grumbled, wanting to get this over with and head back to making more arrows. He hadn't been the same since the prison, since he'd lost Y/n. She had run off back into the prison to find the remaining kids, but when they ran out to the bus she wasn't with them. Daryl had tried going back and searching for her but Beth had dragged him away, telling him it was to dangerous and she could have escaped also. He never believed her.
Rick sighed as he glanced at Daryl. He know he was hurting, he did when Lori died and he knew Daryl would take it the same way. But he gave him space since the last time he tried talking to him he threatened to cut arm off, though he knew he wouldn't ever do such a thing.
Ricks group hung back abit as the rest of them went up to the gate, opening it up for the girl Aaron was yelling about. The earlier Alexandra people crowded around the mysterious girl as Ricks group hung back and took slower steps forward, waiting to be introduced to her. But when Deanna pointed to Rick and stepped out of the way for her, everyone froze. Standing in the middle of the people was Y/n. She was the girl Aaron had yelled. The girl that Carl overheard being talked about.
No one even dared to step forwards or make a noise as the group and Y/n stared each other down. But the sound of Daryl holding back sobs broke the quiet and he started to walk forwards, dropping his bow and running when Y/n saw him and dropped her bag at her feet. She ran as fast as she could to him, not caring about the people around her as she jumped into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist and burying her head into his shoulder as Daryl clung onto her as if for dear life, his head buried into her neck. She could feel him trying to hold back sobs as she did so as well, fisting his hair and winged jacket in her hands.
"Daryl." She sobbed, pushing her head further into his neck as she felt him squeeze her tighter, as if making sure she was real.
"Y/n." He said back, throat tight as he pulled back just enough to look at her; see her face in detail. Her hair had grown longer since the prison and her blue eyes looked duller since the last time he looked into them. But he could see the happiness and relief and joy in her face as he crashed his lips with hers, savouring the feeling and taste of them again.
