The Complacent Face

33 8 10

She crossed the floor

a slinky stride

mouths fell open

eyes grew wide

she knew the effect

it was nothing new

conversation paused

and the silence grew

sleek hair shimmered

from the ceiling lights

eyes blinked slowly

pupils black, snowy whites

she paused and turned

a Cheshire smile

then stepped on stage

with feline guile

she waited for

the tallied vote

and when it came

began to gloat

"In this category, taking first place

the Siamese Cat,

with the complacent face".
