A Child

have you ever seen a child at play

alone upon a summer day

poking bugs with crooked sticks

while listening to the things they say

it's not language we all know

it's dialogue, like in a show

they say the parts of all the players

in their busy mind's tableau

they even add the sound effects

creative little architects

inventing worlds inside their mind

amazing little intellects

so pure, uncluttered, processing thought

a child... imagination's astronaut
