Nabasa ko ang dalawa but I am only going to talk about "That Girl 2" kasi mas gusto ko ito kesa doon sa nauna. Although, they are both good. Feel free to read pareho. Wala namang mawawala sa'yo.
Based sa introductions at Author's Note, medyo controversial ang books na ito. I think someone accused HYSTG of plagiarism samantalang own work niya naman ito. I won't go into details about that here since that controversy is not the point of this write-up.
So, "That Girl 2". Isa na naman sa maraming romance fiction dito geared towards teens and teens at heart (like yours truly). Some would say na gasgas na ang storyline nito. After all, may "That Girl 1" na and their premise is really, really similar. But, what sets this book apart from others of its kind is ang execution. HYSTG used a list to tell the lovestory and nagustuhan ko ito. Hindi ko alam kung dahil ba sa may affinity ako for lists or what pero I think mas gumanda ang flow ng story dahil sa technique na ito. I get to learn more about both characters in a way na ako mismo ang nag-fo-form ng conclusion about them.
I also like the characters in this book. I seldom read books like these since I find most characters annoying but sa case nito, they are endearing. Teenager-y (nag-imbento nang salita si ako) ang ugali pero nagfi-fit. The characters don't try hard for you to like them but you end up liking them anyway.
Sa pang-wakas, this is a fast and light read. Simple story pero touching. While reading, it made me think of things I've missed while I was their age. Back then, I hope I had the courage these girls had.
