I sit under the large oak tree, motioning Kelly over to me.
She skips over and stands next to me, looking around us on the empty street.
Everyone was still working or on school, they'd get out in a few minutes. The only people we'd have to worry about seeing something are the little kindergarteners in the window, not that their teachers would believe them. Mine never did.
I rub the acoustic guitar charm on my bracelet and watch ad the strap appears on my shoulder.
Kelly's drum set appears and I laugh.
"Don't you think it'd be a bit odd to have a big drum set in a random place?" I ask her.
She shrugs and takes drumsticks out of her bag, warming up with a few beats.
I go through all the chords on my guitar and then turn to Kelly to figure out what song we were going to play.
"Taylor Swift?" I ask.
She nods. "I say either How You Get the Girl, I Know Places, or Welcome to New York. Assuming you want to play songs from 1989."
"Duh! How about we start with Welcome to New York for obvious reasons, and then How You Get the Girl." I say excitedly.
She nods again, pulling music sheets out of her back pack.
I learned most of Taylor's songs as soon as they came out.
My favorite song of hers is probably Clean. It speaks to me. I'm not sure how it works. Music just means a lot to us Apollo kids.
Aaron has some guy crush on the Beatles, Adam loves Elvis, Angel likes 5 Seconds of Summer, Kelly is in love with Fall Out Boy, Bret likes The Killers, Matt loves Mayday Parade, Sarah is into Classical Music and Instruments, and I love Taylor Swift, and alternative music. Completely different styles of music all in one cabin.Kelly and I nod to each other and I start the chords to Welcome to New York.
Percy is leaning against the watching the people one by one slowly start to show up.
"Walking through a crowd, the village is aglow, kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That's how it works. That's how you got the girl." I end How You Get the Girl with a huge smile aimed at the big crowd in front of us.
The applause was pretty loud, and my fedora that I placed on the ground in front of us was overflowing.
"Thank you guys! That's it for now. We'll be doing autographs in about five minutes after we pack our stuff." Kelly says laughing.
According to the walking Demi-God encyclopedia, a.k.a Perseus Jackson, The Mist will shield human eyes so it'll look like we're just putting equipment away into cases and stuff, not rubbing a bracelet and all the huge stuff magically disappearing, which means it's safe for us to just use our charms.
Rubbing my guitar charm, I turn to Percy.
"How'd you like the show?" I ask as the guitar and the strap dissolve in front of me.
"It was fun to watch you and Kelly dance and sing." He laughs.
"Thanks, I think." I smile.
"No problem." he says as I turn to see if Kelly has her instruments 'put away'.
After signing a piece of paper for the cutest five year old, we started down the street, looking for fast food restaurants.
"McDonalds?" Kelly asks, pointing to the large building ahead of us.
"Absolutely not." I say quickly.
Percy jumps in, "Why not?"
"Have you seen what they make their food with? It's disgusting. How about Subway?" I ask pointing to the building next to McDonalds.
"I'm fine with that. Percy?"
"Let's go then." Percy answers Kelly.
We walk over to the Subway shop and walk in, listening to the bell chime.
