Emma was listening to music on her new phone while doing her homework. Her book was suddenly ripped from under her and she looked up. Killian held her science book between his fingers and he smirked at her. She pulled her earphones out of her ears and stood up. "I need my book, Killian," she said sternly.

"No, you need to relax." He tossed the book down onto the bed and grabbed her hands. "We are all watching a movie downstairs, and you should join us."

"I should really just finish this. Who knows what will happen if I don't get it done."

Killian sighed. "I told you. Liam and Elsa won't kick you out or send you back if you do something wrong. Victor and Will get in trouble all the time."

"You don't know if they will change that for me."

"They won't." He grabbed her hand. "Now let's go watch a movie."

Emma gave in and let Killian take her to the living room. There was enough space on the couch for two more people. He sat down and pulled her next to him. They were so close, that their legs were touching. He put his arm on the back of the couch as the movie started. She immediately recognized the movie to be Captain America: The First Avenger. A movie she had watched many times in the other foster homes. She wouldn't say it was her favorite, but it was on the top ten list.

Somewhere during the movie, Killian's arm that was on the back of the couch, drifted to her shoulders, and his free hand rested on her knee. She had found herself leaning into him more, but he didn't seem to mind. Emma glanced up at him and he wasn't looking at the movie. He was looking at her. As her eyes met his, he smiled widely and looked back to the movie. She rested her head on his chest and wrapped her arm around his waist, curling her feet underneath of her. Her eyes were growing heavier, and before she could stop herself, she fell asleep. Killian felt her wrap her arm around him and his heart stopped. He glanced down to her again and smiled. He kissed the top of her head after she had fallen asleep, and then he followed her. When he started to stir, his hearing came back to him before he could open his eyes. He didn't hear the music from the television anymore, so he figured that the movie was over and it was off. He did hear Liam and Elsa talking though.

"They are so cute!" Elsa whispered excitedly.

"Maybe my little brother has finally found a girl he won't play around with," Liam said.

'Younger brother,' Killian thought.

"I hope so. If things didn't work out, we'd have to send Emma back. I don't want to do that. I'd hate to see her leave. She finally found a home where people can love her."

'You aren't going to send her back. Not if I can help it,' Killian thought.

"I know. She was treated terribly in her other homes," Liam said quietly.

"What do you mean?" Elsa asked.

"She's had a lot of broken bones and bruises. There wasn't any sign of sexual assault though. But there was a lot of abuse. She's safe here, and I'm not going to let her go anywhere else. If Killian does break her heart, he's just going to have to be the young man that he is and fix the problem."

'Abuse? Who would want to hurt Emma?' Killian asked himself. He turned his head but kept his eyes closed. He nuzzled his nose in her hair and held onto her tighter. A blanket was draped over them both.

"We should leave them alone before they wake up," Elsa whispered.

"Aye," Liam agreed. "Good night you two," he whispered and shut off the lights.

As soon as the last light downstairs was off, and both sets of footsteps went upstairs, Emma got off of him. He looked up at her and she had tears in her eyes. "How much of that did you hear?" She asked.

He stood up so they were eye level. "How much did you hear?"

"I asked you first!" She yelled in a whisper.

He sighed. "Everything." She turned around went to the doorway, but Killian was too quick and he caught her wrist. He yanked her back and she crashed into him. "You aren't leaving. I'll see to it that that doesn't happen."

"You can't promise me that."

"I never break a promise, Emma. And I sure as hell won't break this one. I also promise that I'm not going out with you just to get into your pants."

"How do I know that?"

"Trust me," he whispered and then crashed his lips to hers. Emma immediately kissed back. He sat down on the couch and pulled her with him, so they didn't break the kiss. She straddled him and he put his hands on her hips, while hers found his face. He waited until she wanted to pull away. "I promise."

Emma got off of him and sat on the far end of the couch. He followed her with his eyes. "If you break it, Killian-"

"I'm not going to. I've never broken a promise in my life, and I'm not going to start now." He moved over and sat beside her. He gripped her hand tightly. "All you have to do it trust me."
